So, we went to test drive an F-Pace today and it was beautifully made but really just left us rather cold aside from looking at it from the showroom.
Mainly out of curiosity but also from a desire to move to electric, having had a good time with our hybrid, we test drove a 2021 I-Pace SE and, for lack of a better description, we were blown away.

The car itself just felt like an event to drive, the cabin was well laid out and the spaciouis feel inside was really a welcome change as we look for something to do some good mileage in over the year - Range anxiety is less of an issue given that the Mrs seemingly has a bladder of an infant child and needs to stop every hour or so anywway.
We've been running the numbers based on 12k/year mileage, servicing, insurance etc etc and finding that the difference between that with a cheap runaround (£6k mini?) and our normal two car setup (Ioniq and M4 then Ioniq and I30N) is actually leaning in the favor of the Jag from a pricing point of view.

Anyway, a bit of a ramble... The concern is the boot and two dogs. Dog 1 is short and stumpy, really not concerned about him in the boot, even with the sloping boot line. Dog 2 is a labrador and we're worried about whether or not she would be able to sit upright at the front of the bootlooking forward, head over seats etc. So I guess I'm just curious whether or not anyone of the I-Pace owners in here have medium/large dogs and how they do in the boot. Hammock/harness on the back seat is an option as she's a great traveller but just curious.

If dog boot space is all that's between you and a shiny new iPace, try them in the car for size.

Why not ask the dealer if you can take another test drive with the dogs in the boot ?

Its novelty wears thin, its very good for the dogs though, we bought a hammock and i made an insert to level the rear seat for them which sits under the hammock (just cut rigid insulation and tape cut edges)

Our 2 x medium sized huskies fit fine, boot is for rubbish.

And thats it, thats all we use it for because neither of us like its un smooth nature, to be fair the other cars we have outshine it completely and cost a fair amount more so a little unkind, we have it because it was free, i’d take a range rover over it for dog / bin duties anyway.

We’re moving onto the eqs next and wont be sad to see the ipace go, though the ipace looks far better but we’re not that concerned with the looks for an ev as much as the interior & range.

I'd thought this may be an option but then thought the dealer may be a bit funny about me putting a dog in the boot - Given that you and Steve both suggest it as if it's a normal thing to do then I'll ask, worst case scenario they say no.

Great to know two huskies do well in a hammock on the back seats.
Appreciate what you're saying about the car itself but I think our budget and the rest of our 'fleet' is substantially lower budget than yours so hopefully this car would retain some excitement and feeling of occasion.

Yeah an estate would be more practical for the dogs but electrified estates seem to be fairly low down the list of priorities for manufacturers and we're somewhat converted by the thought of going BEV this year.

I've sold used cars and if someone asked to try it with a dog in the boot i wouldn't have an issue, it just wants a mat and clean afterwards and i'd consider it an important part of the buying process, but then thats just me.

I realise that the iPace is a nicer car, but would you consider a dogtastic ID4 or Enyaq?

ID4 has a god awful interior on the 1st edition and I'm not sure I want to be waiting around on a long waiting list to get the car.

Enyaq - I really like it and I think they're an absolute bargain, aside from some of the ridiculous items that aren't part of the standard tech but deliveries seem to be rolled back consistently and there's seemingly no justification given, all I can think is that they're suffering as per some of the other VAG cars with chip shortages.

We have an I pace and an e tron . We also have 2 Airedales . If we want to take the dogs in the car we take the Audi . The tailgate on the ipace is very sloped and I’m pretty sure it would be miserable for the dogs .
But the ipace is a fantastic car , so maybe get a cheap car for the dogs ?

Two airedales, you must be mad! One is enough for us and he wasnt getting anywhere near our IPace, thus the Qashqai.

Daughter loves the I-Pace but with two IPO trained GSDs who need cages for safety it’s obviously out of the question, dog duties are either with the custom fitted VW Caddy or one of the Pick-ups as the cages transfer easily enough.

Anyway they’d stink the I-Pace out with fur and dust in five minutes.

I-pace is an incredibly accomplished vehicle, but not recommended for a large dog due to the shape of boot and sloping tailgate.

Ours never go in the back anyway, always on the back seat in a hammock (no kids tho)
