My Saab 9-3 estate is pretty good but my 2016 XC60 D5 is superb. 215bhp ish and an auto box with rediculously comfy seats make it so so good.

It’s a toss up between my L320 V8 supercharged or my
i8. The L320 is like driving a lounge, very relaxing to drive but the i8 is equally a lovely to drive. I get in, the driving position is lovely, the drive so smooth and it just totally chills me out.

Currently a Nissan Note auto. Totally brain out driving. You lose concentration and are usually half asleep behind the wheel.

Just sit back and cruise along.
Oh just what we all need!

Agree ! My old man had a 74 Daimler Sovereign. I recall it being really comfy on long rips, but alas like many 70's cars rotted away and didn't have the value at the time to make it worth sorting...He passed it on for £500 in the early 90's...

My most soothing car is the daily driver I have now, Jaguar XFR, more power than you need, air cooled seats, adaptive cruse, auto box etc etc.

Bit left of field but, my Mitsubishi L400 Delica.

Big offroad tyres & proper diffs capable of soaking up anything the road will throw at it, snow, gravel, mud. Never need to worry about getting stuck anywhere (which matters when you commute through NW Scotland).

Yet at the same time, soft suspension (with electronic shocks that tightens things up in the twistys), and a comfy cabin, commanding road position, not fast by any means, but cruises at 65mph on the motorway like nothing else.

To add to it all, comfy living room style rear with a fridge & other day van amenities. I love the thing.

My 2004 Volvo S60. Solid, comfortable, extremely reliable and very refined. The 5 cylinder diesel is punchy and quiet whilst cruising. Good standard sound system too.

Even at 181000 miles there are less rattles in the interior than my 2016 Golf with 19000 miles on the clock!

I'd say it would be the latest Range Rover. Lovely place to sit and, with all the electronics turned on, it pretty much drives itself. Quiet and wafty, but with enough power to allow one to be confident that you can move it around as you need to. Elevated driving position means you always have a good view of the road. All the toys you could possibly want - massage seats, heated/cooled seats.

The Tesla MX100 is pretty good too. Silent and swift. Rides well. Let down by being a slightly less luxurious place to be than the Rangie, the rather poor Autopilot, and the attention it gets.

Going back, I bought a Rover 75 Touring as a nanny/dog car. That was not very inspiring but it did waft very nicely indeed. Like putting on a pair of slippers. Surprisingly good.

Mainly positive. Usually teenagers pointing/thumbs up. But it is far from anonymous. You do get some occasional negative, hackneyed "milk float"/"how long is the extension lead" comments from blokes in their 50s (not heard anything original). Never quite understood the hate really.

The more we have electric cars, the longer we will be allowed to drive our V12s. It's a win/win.

I drove one of those for a few days...amazing feeling of quality like the old Mercedes days. Very underrated car.

Now they are great riding cars. As a child I’d of occasionally travelled in cars like this in the 70’s and 80’s.

There has been some really strange choices on this thread

My wife’s Lexus RX 450h.

It is as far away from sporty as you can get but it gently wafts you to your destination and discourages any sort of sporty behaviour.
