Taxis in Philadelphia in the 1980s. They were almost all ex-police cars with no stuffing left in the shiny vinyl seats and no pliancy in the knackered leaf springs. What a terrible welcome to a large city.

A rented Opel Grandland. Awful soggy steering, vague gearchange and horrible bouncy, poorly damped suspension, not rock firm just incompetent. 3K on the clock.

London ‘Black Cabs’.
+1, atrocious ride quality in those TX1-4, you get chucked around as it crashes through potholes and over speed bumps. I don't know how the drivers manage a whole shift in one.

I haven't been in the new cab though, the one that is built from Geely and Volvo bits. That was designed from the ground up and I wonder if it rides significantly better?
It is VASTLY better. I have liked in London for 33 years and have always hated TX4's for the appalling diesel racket (inside and out) and the shocking ride quality when you're in one. Hateful things.

The new ones (I assume you're talking about the electric ones) are incredibly relaxing in comparison.

If I'm waiting in a queue for a cab I'll always fake a phone call or something if the choice is between getting in a TX4 that's like being in a toolbox full of bolts tumbling down a wooden staircase and one of the new ones that's next up.

A Triumph Spitfire. God awful car. Continually breaking down. Switched to Jap cars. MR2 1995. Wonderful car!

Skoda 1000MB. Seat springing was out of phase with the road springs.
Any vehicle with large wheels and low profile tyres!

Suzuki Ignis Sport. Comically bad. Quite a result given my experience of the Almera GTi and a Msport E46.

Fiat 100HP gets an honourable mention as giggle inducing, but far too busy and not what I wanted.

Vague recollection of a short spin in the Escort RS Turbo which redefined harsh, but somehow fitted the car.

Maybe they mean English b-roads which are normally amazingly smooth compared to the Irish b-roads I grew up using.

My dampers would last maximum 2 years on Irish roads before there was no damping left. As in none. In England even after 5 years there was still damping. All my Irish friends that used to visit me in England marveled at how smooth English B-roads were. We imported cars from England precisely because they had an easy life... (Except for rust. We didn’t have salted roads, so we had much less rust... but much slower speeds on icy days.)

Lexus CT. Rode worse on it's 17's than my Megane RS did on 18's, whilst said megane was slammed on stiff coilovers also wound most of the way up.

Had a test drive of a Hyundai Kona- dreadful noisy jiggly ride. The salesman said yes that’s right they are all like that - would you like to buy it? I have someone in the showroom who wants to & they don’t want to test drive it! It made my BMW 3 series msport, spine jarring, bang crash ride on 19” rims and run flats seem quite smooth...

Christ almighty they must be bad then! Considering up here in the North East at least some roads feel like driving on the surface of the moon.

laugh sure it's not your speed?

Years ago a good friend of mind always complained of suspension failure and repairs. I drove a MK S3 around her way (Edinburgh) and she told me to go quicker...... she used to drive at speed over cobbles, potholes etc etc. Etc
