London ‘Black Cabs’.
+1, atrocious ride quality in those TX1-4, you get chucked around as it crashes through potholes and over speed bumps. I don't know how the drivers manage a whole shift in one. I haven't been in the new cab though, the one that is built from Geely and Volvo bits. That was designed from the ground up and I wonder if it rides significantly better?
The new ones (I assume you're talking about the electric ones) are incredibly relaxing in comparison.
If I'm waiting in a queue for a cab I'll always fake a phone call or something if the choice is between getting in a TX4 that's like being in a toolbox full of bolts tumbling down a wooden staircase and one of the new ones that's next up.
Suzuki Ignis Sport. Comically bad. Quite a result given my experience of the Almera GTi and a Msport E46.
Fiat 100HP gets an honourable mention as giggle inducing, but far too busy and not what I wanted.
Vague recollection of a short spin in the Escort RS Turbo which redefined harsh, but somehow fitted the car.

And yet everyone usually says how wonderful the ride is for b roads. Interesting.Had a test drive of a Hyundai Kona- dreadful noisy jiggly ride. The salesman said yes that’s right they are all like that - would you like to buy it? I have someone in the showroom who wants to & they don’t want to test drive it! It made my BMW 3 series msport, spine jarring, bang crash ride on 19” rims and run flats seem quite smooth...

My dampers would last maximum 2 years on Irish roads before there was no damping left. As in none. In England even after 5 years there was still damping. All my Irish friends that used to visit me in England marveled at how smooth English B-roads were. We imported cars from England precisely because they had an easy life... (Except for rust. We didn’t have salted roads, so we had much less rust... but much slower speeds on icy days.)
Christ almighty they must be bad then! Considering up here in the North East at least some roads feel like driving on the surface of the moon.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
