Best ever looking 4 door saloon...
Discussion
This thread has caused me to make a brave pill purchase. Or maybe not? Time will tell. I mentioned my love for the original 7 series somewhere on page four, and then a couple of days later I started browsing Autotrader for waftmobiles. I learnt to drive in mum's W123 Mercedes 230E, although I took my test in a manual Seat Ibiza in order to get a manual licence. After the Merc died, we got an E30 BMW 318i in Alpine white, which is probably the car I look back on with the most fondness. Decent E30s have reached silly prices, but I did see this 1992 E32 730i on 15" cross-spoke alloys on Saturday night, and on Sunday afternoon I went to view it and test drive it. After 30 years it could hardly be described as perfect, but it's only got 88k miles on the clock and the bodywork is very very good. The engine is smooth and the 4-speed slushbox automatic changes gear very smoothly. The toolbox is complete and the only thing that didn't work was the odometer reset button, which I managed to fix by repeated pressing for a minute or two. Now it works first time. The passenger side washer jets seem to be blocked, but that's literally it!
My old E46 330Ci which suffered head gasket failure after 210k miles still sits on the drive waiting for me to work up the courage to tackle it. My Boxster S was my previous daily, and the Audi A4 Avant was the practical car for hauling stuff to the dump and taking mum to her 3-weekly immunotherapy sessions with her wheelchair in the boot. So this is car number 4, and at the moment the apple of my eye! Yes, the Boxster is a fantastic drive, but there are times when I want something comfy and relaxed. This is the most relaxed car I've driven this side of a 1970s Cadillac!
I now own a total of 26 cylinders and 12.2 litres of capacity. Do I qualify for my PH card yet? Perhaps I should do a tidy-up in the garage/stable and put some "horses" in there...

Well done, this! Must be calypso red. Gorgeous E32. Have a nice time with it!Edited by LunarOne on Thursday 20th May 19:13
I am still partial to this:
The Maserati QP GT gets an honorable mention, despite being v e r y spec sensitive:
Out of the crop available new in 2021 this gets my raving approval:

That is superb! Does it have the inline 6 M30 engine or M60 V8?
Thank you! It's the M30 I6. Super smooth when driving but a deep bass woofle at idle. I would love a V8 before it's too late but have been keeping my eyes peeled for a nice 840Ci from the same era. Would happily accept a V12 car too. Some lovely cars on this thread. Probably partly an age thing but the E34, 190e and 156 are probably my picks. 159 close behind. The E34 and 190e seemed like the Germans at the very top of their game. The 156 seemed to be a reminder to the world that saloons could be sexy. Almost looked exotic.
