Absolutely right.

It's quite mental letting a car cause you anxiety or compromise where you can go with it or where you can leave it or allow one keep you awake worrying at night. Been there and done that and have become aware life's too short and peace of mind is way to important to let cars fk it up.

Swallow your pride and get a shed. The sense of liberation that comes from having nothing to prove and nothing to loose is overwhelming.
And why just apply it to cars? My house came with a kitchen I really don't like. I keep thinking about replacing it. My other half has just had a lovely new kitchen put in hers, acres of pale grey and white quartz, which she is paranoid about the kids staining. Yesterday one of the kids spilt curry on my worktop and was fretting about it - I told them not to worry. My horrible tiles won't stain and I don't care if they do, because I hate them. Having st things you don't really care about truly is liberating wink
Yep I agree. I have taken the Steve approach to life in general so I won't be changing the carpets in the house or decorating or even cleaning up.

If the kids spill anything then it won't matter as the carpets won't have been hoovered in months.

I may not even bother having a shower or changing my pants for total peace of mind as I won't need to worry about ruining new clothes or worrying about what others think.

You can't control what happens to your car but you can - hopefully - control what happens in your pants.

Jaguar steve is clearly mental.

The only sensible recourse when popping to the shops is to spend ages trying to find a suitable space, then agonising about how it is parked, spending your entire time away from the car fretting about the damage that people might be doing to it, then enriching your local Chips Away every time it gets marked. That is what any sane person would do.

I thought of this thread last night, as I squeezed my family wagon into the gap between the wall and the Forester at my local supermarket...

Probably less than 5 feet between the cars. Luckily was still like that when I came back...
That shopping trolley in a giving me anxiety.

I know what you mean, and I did have to be careful as I reckon it might have been within 3 feet of the back of the car. Even though it was stuck in the little drain by the wall and couldn’t move, you can never be too sure with shopping trolleys.

Also notice that the passenger side of my car is probably less than 3 feet from that wall. Fortunately I didn’t have passengers with me, but it would’ve only taken one trolley making a dash for a hiding spot to have completely ruined my day.

Eh? Not sure what my pants has to do with anything my man.

I was going to clean the bathroom but I won't bother as it means I now don't need to worry about the odd bit of splashback or a mis directed st.

I don't have fights but you have convinced me your way of thinking is totally right.

Just park in the family bays, not rocket surgery. The actual families most likely don't care about their car anyway and just use the space to get kids in and out. However, when I was a kid, such bays didn't exist, and my parents managed just fine. So screw um, family bays should be renamed 'pride and joy' bays.

Or disabled bays, they didn't have them when I was a kid so screw em.

Sure, they are wide so that doors can be opened out fully, but they are also right next to the building so that kids don’t have to walk amongst moving cars.

But you never got run over so screw that too.

Wanna share the statistics of number of children hit by a car in a supermarket car park per year? And of those, how many were not parked in parent/child bays?

You need a blue badge for those, and you actually need the extra space for wheelchairs etc

Love how everything has to be so extreme on PH.

You can't have parent and child spots unless enough children have been run over laugh

I never understand the hate for p&c spaces.. If they didn't exist, who would it benefit?! The type of people who park that close to the entrance are the type of people I want to avoid anyway.

Another inversion.

Admittedly not a supermarket but potentially just as bad since the zoo exclusively attracts white good driving families with excitable urchins itching to fling their doors open and career headlong into the magical animal trap.

Naturally I found a spot next to a fence, expecting the possibility of returning to a neighbour parked inches from my door. Kudos to the driver for leaving me the absolutely perfect amount of space - enough so no chance of doors touching but not so much that some joker could squeeze into the gap.

Great isn't it.

I'm waiting for the first person who thinks anyone who touches their car should have their hands cut orf. As I say I've been parking in carparks and on the street since 1995 and never noticed any damage to my car, so presumably I'm extremely lucky.

Over that period of time it will be there in some form, but like you say you have not noticed it.
Sounds like you are not that particular about your car...it is simply a means of getting from A to B. smile

But not actually visible then?

And can we please knock it off with this idea that car enthusiasts only drive cars in mint condition or polished to within an inch of their lives. Because it’s bks. Any vehicle I have is there to be used as intended, not wrapped up in cotton wool so as to slightly increase its secondhand value.
