Had a lovely wafty return trip to the North East. What an amazing machine and Olly was an absolute gent to deal with
This era of Lexus LS and the Jag X350 range of cars are probably my favourite "proper" barges. And the BMW E38, very close to the end of production.Yep, those three really. Different propositions each, but where I'd lay my hat.
My (now) Uncle-In-Law still has his X350 that he chauffeured my (now) Wife to our wedding in. It's still pretty tidy. It's an'04 plate, that's X350, right?

From the days when MB did colour. I wanted to scoff at that, and agreed with your tanning salon comment, but it actually looks rather pleasing to me.
Pov spec checklist in place: white, cloth, manual, steel wheels, no air con. However, only 60k miles and look at the toolkit - every tool in place! MOT history rather sobering though. Looks like a very expensive list of jobs to do to then punt the car on....

No offence, but anyone that buys a car based on the toolkit deserves all the wallet pain that ensues. https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C1328516
That car mumbles 'run away'. The response of 'what was that?' gets 'run away you fking idiot' shouted in your face by a fleckle-spraying loon who's been seen-off by every specialist within a hundred miles.
Avoid.
And it's fking white, FFS. Do not want.

With a very small amount of work this could very easily become a concourse car.
I guess this means with further fettling it will be doing airport runs?CharlesdeGaulle said:

Try to calm yourself by thinking Alfa/Lancia thoughts.

...Still, I’ve managed to convince Mrs755 that the RX is not up to the job of towing (it is) and what we need is a LC Amazon. Every cloud.
Just make sure you get the 4.7lt petrol V8. No half measures. Better still, and this is apposite with regard to ‘van towage, you will span the joint highlights of this thread and the council thread. Because when you come to move it on you’ll get loads of gentleman who need the towing capacity but none of whom wish to part with the readies. But they’ all ask you to hold out yer hand fer the deal, at a staggeringly low offer price.
At least, that was our experience last year. Cracking car though.
So depressing reading C&C. Every ste backstreet garage is now a specialist dealer selling young timers. What a total joke...

I'm quite partial to a "fking white" poverty spec saloon with base engine
On Sunday, I was doing a long bike ride...it was a kind of charity/organised thing.
Anyway, as luck would have it, whilst getting ready to head round to the start line. I managed to lock my helmet and car keys in the back of my car.
This caused a lot of swearing.
My ideal plan was to do the ride then get the AA to break in for me. But unfortunately I wasn't allowed to do it, if not wearing a helmet and because of Covid I couldn't borrow one.
I'll not bore you with all the details, but after a helpful bike mechanic spent a decent amount of time trying to break into the car.
I decided it was best to revert to my original plan, and smash a window to get in.
Three things to note.
It takes a surprising amount of force, avec hammer to smash a small window.
The glass guess everywhere.
You feel much better after smashing said window....it allows you to vent...
Fortunately I'd taken the piece of ste S210, which is getting scrapped in about a month, so smashing a window didn't really matter much.
