I seem to be developing a strange desire for high power suvs, jeep and porsche give off a strange attraction.
I've even started to like my wife's rx400h.
Me too, even test drove an ML63 which didn't help I've even started to like my wife's rx400h.

I like it too, however it's just a bit too far for me (four/five hours without breaks) Would be a comfy ride home though.
Volume 19 has gone all millennial. 4 hours too far to buy a car. FFS man, get a one way train ticket in your pocket and the car on your drive. What have you got planned for your weekend that's better?

Drove from Devon back to Yorkshire yesterday. With sadness I have to report that the ratio of broken down E class Mercedes from about 2005/7 that we passed was extremely high. Along with a few discoveries.
The traffic jam to Devon was approximately 100 miles long. That goodness we were going the other way !

It's close enough that it's worth a cheeky look, but I have been informed that it's all in good order.
Never one to wittingly derail a purchase, but if (as I suspect) your proposed 124 has a 4 cylinder engine, it’snt that very similar to your old w201? I could see the appeal if it were a six.https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/154458285302?hash=item2...
Immaculate 190 (is the seller of this parish? - driveway seems familiar)

That chap has put some serious effort into that ad. Comes across pretty well I think, and that car seems reasonable value these days. https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C1343729
Sort of on thread..
I am considering resurfacing my drive using gravel. Any recommendations on the uber barge resale image enhancing gravel type vs cost per tonne? Not that I have any barges to sell, but just in case.
The only catch is that the drive isn’t level, it falls from the pavement towards the house. I’ll have to work out the angle somehow, but Gravel may not be ideal. And when I say drive I mean pretty much the whole width of the plot - I need to maximisecollection of crap old cars fleet parking square footage.

230e drove very well but was a bit tatty in places and also deposited some of it's coolant when the test drive was over. It looks as if the fan switch is not working.
Possible leak of combustion pressure into coolant system causing coolant out the expansion cap?Edited by W201_190e on Sunday 30th May 13:59

Well beyond thread budget but I'm asking here as the three pointy star wisdom seems strong here and I don't even have Merc bumfluff let alone stubble.
How bonkers would I be to look at a 2007 E63 estate with 120k-ish under its belt; what hefty bills might loom/might have been sorted; and does anyone know if these independents are any good?

- can’t jack a car on it or use a cart/ trolley
- not easy to remove leaves / snow
- it moves about so you will always be raking it back to where you want it
- the Mrs will spoil her best shoes
I went for tarmac. It’s not pretty but it’s very practical.

I can't help with advice on those Indy's but in the face of it they look good. Others here might have used them. As you know the S211 gets lots of love here, I have the stinky diesel V6 and although probably not the best car I've ever owned Its a capable and practical car. Mine goes well that will be ballistic! I've the previous gen engine in the 55 and some prefer it to the engine in your car but I think that's just personal preference not an actual reason.
They are rare, one flew past me coming out of a roundabout up a dual carriageway and the velocity and sound were incredible and he was loaded to the rafters coming back from the seaside. Kids, dog, the kitchen sink.
Do your due diligence and buy it I think it will sell quickly.
