Well beyond thread budget but I'm asking here as the three pointy star wisdom seems strong here and I don't even have Merc bumfluff let alone stubble.

How bonkers would I be to look at a 2007 E63 estate with 120k-ish under its belt; what hefty bills might loom/might have been sorted; and does anyone know if these independents are any good?

Early cars are known to suffer from the headbolt issue, lifters and fuel injectors are also known around forums as not liking high miles. Oh and noises on start-up, I've done a chain tensioners in the past on them in the past but apperently the cam actuators are more commonly the cause of said noises according to the Interwebs.

Plus the whole 7g gearbox which can be a can of worms if it fails depending on the specific variant.

I wouldn't give that particular car a second look. Let's say The chavvy wheels and LED number plate lights do not suggest it has been owned by an old doctor who used it to ferry his dogs about, but more like a wideboy pharmaceutical rep who used it to... Well, ferry dogs around biggrin

It's down to personal preference, but I personally am not enamoured by the 6.2 in anything other than a C Class (where it's freaking hilarious), but I'm a we for positive manifold pressure and lots of torque low down, where the 6.2 has to be "worked" a bit to do anything particularly interesting, especially in larger models, BUT if you specifically want a big, strong NASP V8, there are few better on the market.

Personally, I'd advise a E55k over a 211 E63 or sufficient man maths to get you into a 212 5.5 E63. A E55k is less Bork prone in the engine and transmission and give just as much (if not more) power and fun.

That chap has put some serious effort into that ad. Comes across pretty well I think, and that car seems reasonable value these days.
I'm confused, whats the price? Its up for a lot more on Ebay

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/203473043302?hash=item2...
How strange - the eBay price seems more likely as well....

Anyhoo, looks like Shilly has another account. Enfield Tennis Club boxes ticked - immaculate car, great photos, contrast racheted up to the stop, bonzer!

Pity it's a diesel - nice colour combo. Also, fairly pov spec - no nav or heated/leccy seats.

And from his usual account. I thought he was a Merc only man?

I wonder why it has an Avantgarde instrument cluster. How nice does green look, though? Is it buyers or sellers that have restricted the colour palette to shades of grey? I know this is what the market "wants" but do they want because it is all they are offered?

Found this. Under thread but thought the colour combination would find appreciation here.

As adverts go, that's pretty bad, but if the car is half as good as it looks, has an MOT and the roof works, that's a steal.

I have to say that the car is well specked and looks tremendous, particularly on those alloys. You'd have to bite the bullet and experience the 6.2L engine once in your car ownership before we're all driving white goods.

I've looked at this ad loads of times now, and I know it's objectively insane, but 700+ hp and those mad wheels are very appealing.

Think the seller of the 190 is using JOB's original photos.

(Reading the text of the ad, it becomes apparent that the current seller bought the car from Jack a couple of years ago.)

Sorry I missed doing this on Friday.

18 was the busiest volume yet, taking only 110 days to complete!

I drove 330 miles in the shed 4 today. Roof down the whole way. Very satisfying as only a long trip can be. 36 mpg. Parsimonious.

I'm watching that video right now. He visits the site of a revered barge thread meet!

I’m umm-ing and ahh-ing; the face mask thing is a bit of a turn off I must admit but it’s not till June so who knows what the craic will be by then. If it’s a go-er I’ll either be in an intra-thread Lexus with international credentials or an intra-thread 190LE. Probably with the little one too, I’d imagine.
Bicester Scramble looks interesting but I'm not wearing a facemask outdoors (by then, my increasingly revolting face mask will be 11 months' old: looking at it just now, it cannot be healthy). Anyway, for those who like to rob houses, we shall be enjoying the last day of my holidays. Although I see you can fly in...
Bumping this as JPvanRossem has mentioned it on the horrible rust buckets meet thread. I've got tickets for Sunday 6th.
I'm bumping this as Bicester is next week. Who's looking likely to attend?

The Lake District of England looks great. Never really thought of it but the video and the Donald Campbell connection made it appealing.

Nice roadtrip photos too Oa, I should have taken some of the SL55 in the evening sun. Glorious day for convertibles.

I've work in morning unfortunately.

We had a barge meet at the lakeland motor museum featured in Harry's video a few years ago. r129sl drove my 190 2.6 and I drove his legendary w124 diesel. The museum was really pleasant. A real range of exhibits in the main area, and then the Campbell display in a separate building.

The rain was incredible though. Lake district rain is second only to welsh rain in terms of its wetness.

I love the idea of this, but chavtints, bankruptcy potential when it breaks, the dealer's parody of John Lewis' slogan "Never knowingly sold a good car", and what looks like severe kerb rash on the wheels, indicating careless use and poor preparation are really off putting.

That SLR is fantastic. Such a shame they never offered colours originally. Turned a slightly meh car into one for the euromillions garage.
