If a car has been stood for 25 years unused, even if indoors, would all the rubbers and seals and fluids etc etc have perished and need renewing? I always thought vehicles needed using otherwise they deteriorate, and there is no mention of anything being replaced.

I recall an R107 SL for sale some (15ish?) years ago which also had never been used, but had been serviced annually and kept ready to go for the wealthy owner just in case he arrived and needed to use it. He never did and it had no miles but FSH with MB. I think they wanted 90ish grand, at the time when normal, tidy 107 SLs were plentiful at 10k or less. I've heard of houses kept the same way - fresh food in the fridge, etc, just in case the owner arrives unexpectedly.

A friend of my father was a housekeeper for want of a better word for an Arab family. The daughter's R107 was exactly like this and it had gold BBS wheels. Looked so Miami Vice it hurt.

1996. Different times.
nuts
There was a clue in there.

"Knightsbridge"...

I bet there are 100 luxury cars abandoned in central London in very similar circumstances. Lost keys. Flat battery. Puncture. Then another 1000 that are there because their owner had to make a swift exit as the net closed in.

In buyer's eyes towbar = overworked engine/drivetrain
Or sold for a ton?!

What was the reg? Might be useful to know its still an 8k car For any prospective buyer...

Incredible. That black one, kept nicely, should be better than money in the bank, I'd have thought.

The red one. Good grief.
Black one does look good. Red one nd the story, incredible.

I'm going to pull an ad together for my 129, no idea how to price it. I'm resigned to the fact of moving it on but just don't have the energy to deal with Joe public! frown

It was an £8k (nearer 8.5 with the premium) Mercedes, by next month it could be £15k the way things seem to be going.

As profits go considering there's haggling and a warranty to be had it's not outrageous. And I don't see it flying out at that money, I thought Collecting Cars had extracted every penny from it given its Cat C status.

It's completely bonkers isn't it. I was amazed to get £8k for the car. I thought Collecting Cars had done a great job in getting top money for me.

As you say £12k includes a warranty so certainly not the worst mark-up seen... I was amazed at £8k so double amazed at £12k. Good luck to them though - it is a lovely car.

Ages ago on this thread there was a picture of an X350 Jaguar XJ gear lever where someone had replaced the knob with a leaper. Does anyone here have that picture? I was telling a friend about it and wanted to show him

I think I would enjoy seeing a Jaguar with a leaper where its gear knob should be
