Has anyone been gifted a Red Letter Day driving voucher? I was last year for my 50th but have not yet used it. There is nothing barge-related; I can go quicky, off-road, drive an HGV, etc. I am tempted with the E-Type drive.

I suppose I am asking in case I have dismissed something which might be better than I assume.

Ta.
Friend did one a few years ago..it was the restriction on rpm that spoilt it for him. Effectively reducing the acceleration to that of his daily.

I'd definitely go for the HGV. My father-in-law is a retired HGV driver and I'm always kicking myself that I never snuck out for a day on the road with him whilst he was still working to see how it all works.

Seconded. One of my most memorable drives was an HGV (with trailer) round Bruntingthorpe, so different to anything else and no restrictions apart from a telling off for trying to overtake the one in front dual carriageway elephant race style

The thing about the HGV one is that it's only for 15 minutes which seems a bit mean

Do you get that much more time in the cars? 10 laps at 1:30 per lap?

Scania used to do a 'come and drive all our products' day in Sweden including stuff like airport steps and bin lorries. In fact they might still do it, off to google

I kind of understand it the cars are loaned to the firms usually.
Depends on the company. I did a redletter day at Elvington airfield and drove an Aston Martin db9. Don't know how they did it, but it maxd out at 6500rpm, 500 below the red line on the dial. So must have some form of software plug in thing. But it certainly wasn't strangled to 5k revs.
Bloody good day out, as the Aston was followed by a ridealong in a dax rush driven by their tutor (was outrageously fast) and a drive in a big MAN 6 wheel thing around a fairly tame offoad course.
Included bacon sarnies and cups of tea, went away very happy.

Probably a grand too much but looks clean and if the miles/story play out, could be a nice car. You can count on one hand the amount of e38s on sale that have not been messed with in some way or other.
In this market and with other examples not as good as that, that have sold recently; I'd personally pay c£3500 for that...

It looks like it's been very well looked after and a good check over of the bodywork (sills, rear arches, inner arches, boot lid and rear valance etc); if it's all sound, it's good to go!

Personally I'd want to find a sent of 18" Style 32s for it; keep the smaller alloys for winter

It's a good looking machine!

I had similar. Cayman and 911. That was all a bit meh, to be honest. The cars weren't strangled, but it was all a bit village.

By far the best bit was a passenger ride four-up in an Evo Something in the hands of the instructor guy giving it death. Remarkable cars, and he was a superb driver.

It was that special biting kind of cold in which airfields have really cornered the market.

Not many MOT'd R129's left for under £3k. Shame about the poor pictures and the badge needs removing ASAP.

If it's not quieter than a Giulietta.... Were they rubbish tyres? If not, that's surprising. Doesn't sound very wafty if it's noisy.
I should have taken a checklist, I remembered to check the wear but not the brand. Noob error.

My Giulietta is on Goodyear Efficient Grip, I did choose them for low db rating, (I know that's the outside noise not cabin).

The dealer seemed to think I need to go S-Class if I want a quieter ride frown

Tempted to just go for it, I've had the Giulietta 5 years, might be a good experience driving a large barge like car for a bit.

I'm sure the OH won't understand why Ive gone from a 2012 Alfa to a 2007 Volvo smile

The S80 had folding rear seats and front folding passenger seat so she''' be happy the IKEA trips will still be possible.

Love the interior colours. Some well placed yellow screw heads and you have a CDG personalised plate!
Regardless of one's views on personal/messed-with plates, I rather think that one is one which is FAR more valuable, not to mention advantageous in it's current unmolested format!
Indeed initials and dob smile

No sunroof and nice colour.

Do we think the fuel tank is likely be to OK?

I stopped reading at the end of the first paragraph and mention of Macron. I think I've exceeded my BS tolerance threshold for the day after reading that stuff about the grille on the R129 280 giving it an 'imposing presence'. Excrement in my family and work life at the moment probably aren't helping my tolerance of waffling BS in car adverts.

Ditto.

HQ: how was your day?
Me: Yea it was ok (regardless of how the day went). How was yours?

The CLS is basically an E Class, which should be quieter than a hatchback. Just phone and ask what tyres they are, and then check the noise rating compared to the ones on your car.
