I can help too if required. It would be outside but tucked away in a residents' car park. As a man of leisure currently I can be the salesman if needed.
With £95 seller's fee? hehe

Good one Emeye; that colour on the Lex looks great and doesn't it have a green digital clock?
It does have a green clock, along with all sorts of amazing gadgets I have yet to fully explore, including a sat nav last updated in 2001 and missing the all important part of the M60 near me. biggrin I tried to set the date and it will not go past 2020! eek Anyone know where I can get a new(er) satnavCD for cheap?

The cars are still absolutely filthy after spending a week being driven around europe in some of the worst weather they have had for ages, but the Lexus is definitely a 10 footer - the bonnet is currently swirl matt, and dark colours show up every scratch and mark - I have always wanted a burgundy car, so that's another tick off the list and it might polish up, but shiny is not what this car is all about, it's my experimental bangernomics Q-barge that I can park anywhere and commute in comfort. It's nice and clean inside, and as long as the mechanics are sorted and looked after I will be happy. It is in for an MOT tomorrow and I suspect it should sail through now I have changed the lights over to RHD - which was fun.

I have not driven it yet, but the only things I think I need to do are boot struts and a front parking sensor - luckily I found that was easy to access by removing the lights. Oh and the driver's mirror only goes up and down not left and right, but I can push it around for now - all cheap easy DIY fixes.

Be careful what you wish for, you might fall in love. All have done is move it around on the drive and I want it even more - that V8 burble wobble

Frustratingly my wife, who told me the other day that I was the automotive version of one of those crazy cat women, would be all up for me having it if I could make it work.

I wonder how quickly and cost effectively I could build this carport? scratchchin
Start on Friday night and you could have it done easily by Sunday night.

I tried to replace it myself after my Eastern European road-trip which saw me enter the 'black zone' as I crossed into Poland and not to get back on-screen until exiting the Czech Republic! I found a seller of new discs on the Bay of Dreams but the show-stopper was that I couldn't find a way to get the old disc out. It may well have been (probably was) abject stupidity on my part, but it proved an insurmountable problem which I got around by using my phone.

I remember you saying you used your phone, but as an IT bunny I like a retro electronic challenge and I thought it would be nice as a backup - I did the same to a 2002 Audi TT which was still useless after I had updated it - the more important thing for me is getting my Spotify choons in the car - I have an FM transmitter, DAB bluetooth call thingy that has worked well in my other cars.

I did ask Ross about his Grom(?) upgrade the other week on here, but I think he missed it - or it wasn't Ross who did it. Or he just ignored me.

It's got a cassette player for God's sake; how much more do you need?

You do realise it also had a 6 disk changer hidden away in the dash?

It is a good excuse to go in the loft and find my huge boxes of tapes and CDs, but I usually end up with the same 10 disks messing up the interior, under the seats etc as I forget to change them.

Does your FM transmitter whistle through the stereo when you brake or indicate or is a sign that I should've actually spent more than £12.49 on one?

Used one of those bluetooth FM transmitters (Teknet) in my Gtv for years and worked a dream. The Gtv had an old school radio that extended, I kept it pushed all the way down.

Tried it on a newer Alfa Giulietta with a stubby roof aerial and it(same device) would get interference from other radio stations in some parts of my commute.

A less efficeint aerial worked out well smile

The ones I bought were a bit more expensive, but reduced at the time and they work reasonably well. I never fitted the DAB aerial to the window as it gets messy. I could even just about make some audible hands free calls.

I'd rather have a nicely integrated Apple carplay head unit. I have one living in the loft waiting to be fitted to one of our cars but it looks like it could be a big job in the Lexus - I want it to be the ultimate comfortable commuting disco party machine, but I don't want to spend a fortune - I have lots of old ICE kit I would like to reuse.

What you need then is something spacious to bust your moves in and that has a Lexus engine - an Alphard biglaugh

It will probably take that long to just design, as it has to go into an odd shaped plot - I left up the old but solid posts from the previous carport which I am hoping will speed things.

Apologies for all weeds growing in the cracks, I've only recently got my health back and it's on my to do list - eventually all the drive will get resurfaced in something. And for those with OCD like me, the plumber will be back to replace that annoying white piece of pipe.

Nice Merc eh?

That is an awkward shape.
I had to look hard to see the white pipe but I like the random pallet.
You need to put the cover back on your outside tap.

Very nice Merc and it looks at home there

About 15 minutes with a decent electric pump

I just can't bring myself to throw that pallet away - it is a proper sturdy one that occasionally comes in useful - we are only just getting to the end of the extension build.

And that's the old tap cover on the floor, there is a new improved one on there. biggrin

Oh, is that the grey thing about level with the chrome strip along the front of the bonnet?

One of my mates is a warehouse manager and recently made himself some rather nice pallet-based garden furniture.

They do an outdoor version too. £700-ish new I think.
