Were I barge-less & needy, I’d have a trip to London with £2k & see whether it’d secure me a v8 ride home. (or at least I would if the MOT was >3weeks).
I like that too, but young at heart and all that. Young enough to dodge shoes.
Me 3, stupid but something less hideous than various shades of plastic wood effect

Not sure if he got a ban or not, but the thread was rigorously cleansed.
Same for me when I offered my W124 to the thread. No ban but thread was cleansed of any mention of the car.
The car in Bath? That was around for a while though (weren't there two?)
yes

The first sold on collecting cars. The 2nd more scruffy was on eBay: Sold; buyer changed his mind; sold; buyer “couldn’t” send a deposit; sold to 2nd place bidder. Phew.
That's an odd one as it was widely discussed, so any deterrent effect would have been minimal.

It's horrendous. Looks like a T shirt Primark would have to on clearance teamed with some beige cords.

It’s not Friday, but thread doesn’t often mind a reasonably specd W221, in this case a 5.5 with low miles and fantastic royal blue. I’ve never seen one this colour, and it’s fab!

It seems that Macron has gone all Timmy Mallet this morning, but the W221's a good'un.

Any beard recognise the colour? Azurite Blue?

Is it friday yet? Only £13750 for a good SL600, with the current covid pricing that seems like a steal.

Lovely. I remember these being launched, as I was at school with a girl whose dad had two of them. And I don't mean he had one and then another one. He bought a pair brand new in 1992, one for London and one for Spain, to replace a pair of Corvette ZR-1s. The rumour was that he owned some of the patents on Letraset, hence the comfortable lifestyle.
That is fantastic. Back in the day, my father had a W201 and we were invited to a "drive everything in the range" day at Caffyns Mercedes in Dorchester which he and I went along to. I was in my early 20's and my daily was a 10 year old 1043cc VW Polo so clearly anything would have been amazing by comparison. The most memorable drive however was in a brand new 600SL: almandine red / mushroom. The sensation was of completely unruffled nuclear powered thrust, and then when you backed off, wafting about in total silence. Peak Mercedes.
Late to the party, as per, but that is rather splendid and doesn't seem desperately unreasonable price-wise.

Apart from the rather tragic cardboarding of the number plate (and, if one is being harsh, the lack of boats), I think we may have reached peak-photography with this ad. Resined gravel or whatever you call that stuff, manicured gardens, and hard-top subtly in-shot. That's great work.

That SL600 is absolutely lovely.

I'm still in "sell" rather than buy mode, but finding it increasingly difficult... I had a few bids on a TVR Tuscan the other day (which I obviously don't need), and now I find myself coming back to this again and again.
I think, like many of us, I have a problem. I would say this thread is here to support, but I know we all to live vicariously and enjoy others' latest purchases, so the support is generally of the "forecourt photos please" variety!

And Betjeman's Meditation on the A30, which I butcher below:
Like others I’ve ever been convinced this wasn’t a spoof. I loved watching it (BBC2 after ‘old’ Top Gear?) and in hindsight it was either genuine comedy genius, both conceived and acted, or it exposed us as a nation of Partridge/Brent saddos long before these characters dropped into popular culture.

Would love to get someone from the production to confirm or deny.
Well, according to the Beeb it's legit. It's filed under "Documentary > Factual"

https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00hvb9g/episodes...
Yes, it's definitely real. But surely one of the inspirations for David Brent. I'd say it pre-dates the modern mockumentary trend by a long way, and the other episodes weren't as sad/funny as the company car one.

I'm thinking Designo Mystic Blue and if it is I think probably 2k option.

Ps the SL600 is lovely and it might be Azurite blue.

Not Designo Mystic, as this is much more 'cheerful' (if I may interpret it so). I think that it may be 'Capri Blue'.
