Best smoker barges 1-5 large [Vol 19]

Well I can confirm that it is OE but I'd be lying if I said that I had seen that before - Its a very... interesting interpretation of "the best or nothing" that.
The fans with the integrated motor and electronics are a pretty common failure point, but those tend to default into the limp/jet engine mode. On those systems if there's a fault on the control side they'll default the fan on as a form of protection, I see that exponentially more than the 12v feed and earth failing.
It flat out not working would have me strongly suspecting the motor itself but its going to want a play around with a mutimeter (or even better, a power probe ) to confirm.
It doesn't appear that the motor is available separately and is showing around £1000 from Mercedes for the blower assembly.
A 220 500 00 93 manufactured upto 30/06/2001
A 220 500 01 93 afterwards
Aftermarket they share the same part number as per

Ben
I was today years old when I learnt they put the 4.2 petrol in the Phaeton. Assuming the ad is right, if course. 8k, but the only way to get one ulez compliant bc stinky diesels.

I've found brand new motors for sale for £142 from a company called trucktec on ebay in Lithuania
which isn't the end of the world, I'll have a look round it with a multimeter first because it seems odd it just failing without making any noise at all thanks for the reply not sure about a power probe lol
AutoDoc have got the electric motor, Trucktec brand, for £96. Some people moan about AutoDoc’s delivery times etc., but I’ve never had an issue. which isn't the end of the world, I'll have a look round it with a multimeter first because it seems odd it just failing without making any noise at all thanks for the reply not sure about a power probe lol

I'm on the hunt for a W124, can't seem to find many for circa £3k that aren't full of rust. And there's nothing on eBay.
Me too I was getting the full of rust ones for £500-£1000 not so long ago. Even the crap ones are £3000 now. However my 124 cab seems to not rise in value at all :-)Macron said:

Looks nice - bloody strong money mindhttp://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/2021061739...
Airbox to turbo feed pipes look like they have been repaired with self amalgamating tape
OE Equipment Eagles on the front the Omega symbol is present
Common replacement Eagle F1 on the rears
Highly likely both sets are at least 10 years plus old so budget for a set of tyres on top
235/45 17 fronts and 265/40 17 in ZR or Y rating
Oh and if it's been removed it's likely that either the OE grundig unit, the changer unit in the boot or the interface box buried in the dash are utterly bksed
May I play the "it's nearly Friday" card with this 1.6 x thread max facelift W124 on gingers please? Bornite for the win.

As we’ve decided it’s a very long Friday, here’s something for everyone who doesn’t want to be involved in a crash, ever.

It cruises dangerously well at triple figures on the motorway - sat on 44.8 MPG during this too! Also edging closer to 160,000 miles - I just hope the rattling and knocking from the suspension will stay at this level until the MOT expires in January.

Lower arm rear bush gets a hard time on higher-power V70. You’ll know it’s past its best when a second-gear booting comes with a surprise lane-change manoeuvre.

As Jim says, the V70 is quite sore on suspension. I replaced numerous bits and bobs over the years to keep it all straight but don’t recall any issues highlighted at MOT time. Fingers crossed it’s something simple like a heat shield or exhaust mount.

I posted one in a previous volume - in all the years of keeping tabs on the Phaeton this is now only the second V8 I’ve seen for sale - who knows it may even be the same one resurfacing!http://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/2021100481...
£8k is strong but the rarity and q-car factor kind of make it justifiable. I wonder how many were sold here with this powertrain, and how many were to private buyers first rather than dealer/demo/VW management?
ETA: On closer inspection the bodywork at the rear and the interior look pretty hammered… Shame.

I've got a set of ARB links all round as there was some play in the rear nearside, I was going to tackle this myself, but I remembered my trolley jack is now on "permanent loan" to a "friend" and I really cannot be arsed heaving it in to the air again on the supplied jack, so will get my "the man" to do it at MOT. The rear exhaust mount and a heat shield somewhere is adding to it's noises - as is the rear offside door card, but as said before, I like a car with niggly issues as it gives me something to do and/or moan about
Spinning this as positively as possible, at least the lack of tunes is allowing you some quality time to pinpoint and diagnose these issues! ian316 said:

I have been looking at the Bornite 300 E but really, it is silly money, is it not? That kind of money buys a much more competent car, surely? Like Mr W201_190e, I wouldn't mind a nice w124 saloon but there is nowt out there at sensible prices. I keep pestering Oa about his smoke silver E320 but he is hoarding all the good cars for himself. The problem I really have with 124s is they are not that fast and I quite like going fast. Nor are they so very refined, and as I get older I find the long journeys which I enjoy so much are taking much more of a toll on me. Superclean MOT and Shilly levels of prep.

Why oh why did I ever sell the E430? Surely it would have been more sensible to fix the rust and enjoy it.
