Such an incredibly honest ad, I'd say the majority of sellers wouldn't have mentioned those possible engine issues.
Damn, I wish I could take that on, I've wanted a 4 litre X308 for a long time!
That's a 3.2L V8...
Wow ! topped out at less than thread minimum
I paid £2k for it, so not the end of the world. I really like these x308 jags. But as both I have owned have had engine problems should probably steer clear in the future. Is the old jag v12 better?

Feeling like a Lexus LS purchase as a tonic. And a boxster S.
Eesh, losing £1k is still pretty painful considering the length of time you've had it. What flavour of LS might you get? 460 for the win smokin
0a, does that mean that you were sold a
lemon by the Jaaaag specialist?

I think 0a has a malfunction field - has anyone else in the thread managed to buy 2 Jags and have engine issues in such a short space of time?

I guess if they were both pre 2000 models then they could both suffer from the nikasil bore lining issues. Saying that there are cars about which have go over 150k miles on the original nikasil engine.

Losing a grand will feel like nothing if you buy one of these. Admittedly I had mine off the road for a couple years, for reasons I still can't even explain to myself satisfactorily, never mind anyone else, but it's just cost me mid-thread to have it given a clean bill of health. Worth every penny, I might add.

You’ve got to read the advert which makes it worth the 3 and a half bags the seller is asking for. Also it is D3CTR owned so all
Kosher.

I think the Boxster is massively and unfairly underrated. I'd probably seek out a 2.7 with a manual gearbox and an interesting colour scheme because it's not about going ultra-fast. They would respond well to mild customisation, IMHO. This 'S' got me all excited during the week. Is it a non-standard colour? It needs those split rims with the gold-grey centres.

If they're running well on purchase forget about Nikasil...

Totally agree, I nearly bought a 2.7 a few years ago, seemed like the bargain sweet spot to me. Only problem is the crazy Porsche parts tax, some silly prices for relatively sensible items.

That one you've linked to looks like a standard colour, although I've a feeling the wheels are from a later 987 Boxster rather than the 986.

Anyone fancy a rescue project L322? Petrol, knackered air suspension, slight grot. Still looks great mind, even in a very un-thread sale location.

Is it yours? It's been for sale on and off for ages with that light, mainly at over thread, even when the light was on. I think it was still on at 6k when the light first came on. A saving of £0 over the price when it wasn't.

If this super cheap mechanic friend was super cheap the problem would be fixed. It isn't. It's worth more when fixed, so how bad is it that the mech is saying to flog it..?

Kosher? More questionable I'm afraid.

I think that's a current colour rather than a standard 986 colour and I think they're 997 (911) Turbo alloys. Completely agree it has to be a good colour, though. Gratuitous shot of mine.

And the replacement DB9 looks like it's also for sale - https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/11352202

I love it when the more anally-retentive/ knowledgeable/less forgetful posters pick up stuff like this. I see something and immediately forget it, but you stars remind us all of the occasional pitfalls. Commendable work sir.

If being a loser was an Olympic sport, I'd be a medal contender.

Then you see me post a Vel Satis V6, and all thoughts of loserness simply melt away... Optimistic 3k.

This looks the business. Mister Arrrrrr, that Rose Gold Boxster with the rather fetching red roof seems well suited to you, down to the thorough titivation from which it has benefited.

Allow me. Is this what the General had in mind?

One pushing the lever down while the other tries to pull it up?

Typical!
