Now this looks like a lot of car for the money. Not sure if its just the light but the bootlid looks a bit 'flat' in one of the pics but if the rest checks out this could be a great all weather smoker..!!

Sheer Beauty is an understatement!
Only done a genuine 169k which is nothing for these, as these are easily capable of doing over 300k easily
Rare car that will be only going up in value.
Is this some kind of bullplop bingo?Only done a genuine 169k which is nothing for these, as these are easily capable of doing over 300k easily

It's a decent looking thing but there's got to be a good chance the Seller Is A Cock.

So after purchasing wsurfa’s broken S6 earlier this month (surprisingly with no gravel tax) I decided that didn’t have enough cylinders or troublesome Audis, hence the purchase this morning shown below in it’s usual environment.
V8 Quattro Sport, Bose Sound, Sports Air Suspension, Tiptronic Steering Wheel, Phone Prep, Heated Seats and Folding Mirrors (that don’t fold). Controversially it drinks from the Devil’s pump.
88K £1900 from a great dealer in Sevenoaks, he’d obviously done that maths that I hadn’t.
It drives fantastically, but slowly, as it has a few issues. inlet manifold flaps being the main one, and a stuck inoperable MMI system, which was great on the (fuel included) trip home because it was sooo quiet.
Booked in with Dean at 4 Rings Dartford mid month to give me afull diagnosis wallet raping.
The D2 A8L 4.2 V8 Quattro (bought from this thread in March last year) is going to have to give up it’s Final Edition alloys and revert back to it’s hilarious 17” 5 spoke it came with pictured below in it’s unbarry’d state.
D2 giving up it’s 9 spokes to the new D3.
Not sure how I feel bout the original D3 alloys
Everything looking very nice, hope the gearbox on the D2 is good, 4.2 lunched it's gearbox, although the D2 S8 I had was fine. I probably miss the S8 more than the S6.V8 Quattro Sport, Bose Sound, Sports Air Suspension, Tiptronic Steering Wheel, Phone Prep, Heated Seats and Folding Mirrors (that don’t fold). Planting my foot in a diesel E-class is not quite the same, scenery doesn't go into rapid reverse and I keep looking for a tractor

Ian has a vantage point. Not that I ever see that myself - too fast, natch - but the eternal moaners here seem to make it sound endemic.

My quandary is that is obscures the airmatic buttons and I'm always fiddling with them, along with the gear changes. The benefit of the 7G-Tronic, is that one can forever use gear braking in the E500. However, when there's a passenger, it's quite convenient as it cleverly holds two cups!
A wise old mechanic once said that discs and pads are cheaper and easier to replace than gearboxes/clutches 0a said:

The old girl has landed!
107k with full(ish) service history but a few battle scars - perfectly described by the kindly and knowledgeable vendor and brilliant nick on the inside.
To put its purchase into context, I retire next year and after 15 years of fleet cars, wanted one of "my own". My only previous foray into Mercedes ownership is our current 1986 207D campervan which fanned the flame, hence "Shaggy's" arrival.
Having never had an automatic, or an estate for that matter, I'm pleasantly surprised at the drive - granted I've nearly used the parking brake as a clutch on a couple of occasions, but the waftability and relaxed manner makes me realise what I've missed all these years.
Anyhoo, I love it, Mrs W loves it and more importantly, the dogs do too and readily jump in the back as soon as I press the fancy tailgate button on the key fob (I love this feature!) .
It's early days but I'd appreciate any advice, recommendations or pitfalls especially as the air con is inoperative (3 flashing red lights when attempting to knock it on) and as far as phone connectivity goes, I'll have to pull into a lay-by for now as I haven't a Scooby Doo how to connect it!
