I am trying to download a 5 min audio clip from a 2 hr youtube video. Previously I have gone online and found a site which allowed you to enter start / finish times before downloading but these seem to have gone - now there is only a plethora of dodgy looking sites that lead you in all fail to deliver or work.

I have media human downloaded on my PC but it won't cut anything. There must be a simple way or link that can do this - does anyone know where or how?

If you have an iphone there is a shortcut to download youtube videos. Download into library and then edit the bit out using the built in video editor on the phone.

VLC player is the easiest for simple editing. Download your file, play through VLC, press the red button at the start of your clip and again at the end. Clip will be saved wherever you've specified. Use Handbrake to change filetype as necessary.

Can't help with the editing, but I managed to use a YouTube to mp3 ripper last week without issue, they're definitely still out there. I'll see if I can find the one I used once I'm on the laptop.

VSO downloader can save YT content (not completely sure about the limitations of the free version though).

Audacity is a pretty powerful audio editor - and it's free.

You can use VLC to download the entire video as well.

Start VLC and then Media >> Open Network Stream then Copy and Paste in the YouTube page url. The video should now start playing in VLC.

Open the Tools >> Media Information menu. At the bottom where it shows location copy all the text from the adjoining box. Paste this back into your browser where the video will now play outside of YouTube. You can right click and then download the file.

Im just after an mp3 / mp4 audio file.

Its a 3 hour DJ mix, the tune plays for 5 mins. The tune is not available and likely won't be, so I am trying to grab it.

Be easier to post a link to the video and ID the song you want, then (shock horror) buy the song....

Check out the No.23 recorder, it records anything that goes through your sound card,
start/stop at your command, download is free, no adverts, easy operation.
I use this for years, think it was recommended here.

And as usual, as is the case with every post on PH ( shock horror ), nobody reads what is posted. Go back and try again.

Use this
https://www.y2mate.com/en32/youtube-mp3
to download the video as an mp3 then use audacity or similar to trim the bit you want.

Thanks for that. I often record the audio from online meetings. That will be very useful.

It has to be available somewhere, or it wouldn't be in the video.... tongue out

PH has often found unobtainium previously, also intrigued as to what the track is.

Its an EDM track posted on an Anjunadeep mix by Tony from Above and Beyond. The track is listed as "Hopeful" by a well known artist called "Weird Sounding Guy". However, this is not available as it is unreleased. There is a seperate track by same artist called "Hope" but that's not it.

Will try some of the links above cheers.

Oh I hate songs like this! I have a few songs in my head that I know I heard somewhere but cannot find that specific mix and version... Grab it before it's too late!

The only way I know of bar pissing around with random firefox extensions is youtube-dl within Linux to download the video then handbrake or ffmpeg to turn it into an mp3 then cut what you need out with audacity or resolve or similar. Bit hardcore but equally the youtube-mp3 bit is about 5 clicks and watch for 10 minutes

I can only find this in German. Do you have a link to an English version?
