RE: Ferrari FF | PH Used Buying Guide

I'll have the luxurious four-seater with the V12 and 4WD please!I see the general similarity in the side profile, but the FF and Z3M are each distinctly recognisable, much more so than, say, a Genesys G80 and an Audi A7. To me, the FF is the perfect shooting brake and looks great, even better in the flesh. The Z3M just looks odd. I'm sure it's a fun car to drive, but it looks gash.
Fantastic cars…
Loved mine - had it for a couple of years, used it as a daily in all
Weathers, school pick up and drop offs, station car and family holidays across Europe with small kids everything you would use a regular car for…
Positives
To drive it’s generations better than a 612, which is way down on power, and wouldn’t see which way an FF went on a real road.
Noise is awesome, standard exhaust is perfect, doesn’t need any aftermarket messing.
Genuinely fast too - did the business At VMAX on several occasions (see pic).
The 4wd traction really works in rain and bad weather which is a godsend on a long trip in the dark and rain on an autobahn. Probably kept me alive..
The snow mode isn’t a gimmick it works - I tested it extensively…
Downsides -
well the dual clutch box is fast but it brutal and makes the odd clunk.
Doors are long - make access easy to rear seats, but car cause issues in multi storey car parks…
bits will come lose on the interior (but after years of British and itallian sports cars you get used to sticking them back together).
It can eat tyres for breakfast. But that’s also fun..
8pmg is not unusual. You can get 20 plus on a long run, but you’ll have to be restrained. And when it sounds that good it’s hard.
It’s the only car I’ve ever had that doesn’t have an mpg readout, even one buried in the menus. It’s effectively telling you that If you want to know you probably shouldn’t ask.
You have to open the windows in a tunnel. You just have to. Drove Mrs H nuts…
See below for speed test results conducted at VMAX at bruntingthorpe.
In the end I sold mine for a QP GTS because I needed rear doors.
If anyone is thinking of buying one feel free to pm me…

a little more than 80k, what a bargain, i will get the wife one as well and the kids
...
agreed, great price and makes a lot of sense...
the petrol era is on its way out and the v12 in the FF is one of the best sounding engines ever, now is the time to get one I think
£100k for a new M5, i'd take the FF and £20k in the pocket every time
I think Mr_Tony's comments above sum up the FF ownership experience perfectly... I had one for about 20 months, used it regularly and found that it could do just about anything ranging from supermarket trips to touring holidays. Running costs weren't cheap but with a Ferrari two year warranty I escaped fairly unscathed; the noise when it got going was incredible.

Had a flat rear tyre that the can of foam wouldn't fix while in a 355 on an Italian Autostrade.
Called Nationwide's European breakdown helpline, half expecting to be TTFO, but was then picked up by a chap with a standard low loader, who used various blocks of wood to get the car loaded without damaging the front bumper. He also said, "Pirelli for Ferrari in Italy is difficult", which was amusing, but ominous.
I was taken to a delightful Ferrari dealer in Bologna who made us coffee and fed us sandwiches and cake while the apprentice went out in a van scouring the city for two Michelin PSS in 265/40/18.
A couple of hours later, two new rear tyres were fitted and I lubed myself up for the bill.
Just shy of €500, which was about twenty quid less than Black Circles wanted at the time.
I enquired about servicing and found it a damn sight cheaper than it is over here. Most breakdown insurance covers repatriation of the car and hire of a replacement, if it can't be fixed in a reasonable amount of time, anyway.
TLDR; don't worry about breaking down abroad. Worry about that front transfer box instead!

Try having your windscreen wiper motor fail in the pissing winter rain in South Eastern France (ie on your way to the Alps).
You’ll be sat in a light industrial town for a week… and that’s if you’re driving a mass produced German or French car let alone a Ferrari!

I am looking out for these as well.

Did Ferrari do the special (rusting) paint on that, or was it done by some other bod? Something doesn't smell right there. This veideo (in german) does raise some doubts about the build quality issues:
