The BMW grille stripes seems to be done by older men based on my experience. They look awful!

Yup, awful.

Having a look at used BMWs at the moment.
This tat tells me all I need to know about the previous owner and it’s an instant ‘no’ from me.
What does it tell you about the previous owner that will affect the condition of the car?

I've seen a few Maseratis with green white and red stripes on their grills. Maybe they upgraded from BMWs and wanted to keep the look.

At best it tells you nothing, but it might give an idea about previous owner and whether I'd want to bother dealing with them. It might even be an indication how barry boy has driven it.

Same here. I see a fair few M badges added to cars by owners who are old enough to know better as well.

‘4D’ number plates. It’s also on my list of early warning signs that it’s likely to be driven by a throbber.

If it’s on a BMW I believe it’s a prerequisite.

I was going to say that pretty much anything that the car didn’t roll out of the factory with can be classed as
Tat.

But then I remembered that the manufacturers ‘accessories’ often contain some very expensive tat too.

I remember seeing a Brabus G class at the FOS. Above the base vehicle, it had over €450k of additional’stuff’

These annoy me far more than they should as well. In a blatant example of indoctrinating children in incorrect behaviour, they’ve even made it on to children’s pedal cars. This abomination soured an otherwise enjoyable trip to a local toy shop with my young nephew recently.

Frankly ,the sign calling it a “BMW Jeep” upsets my CDO far more...

disagree there - there's a large and thriving aftermarket scene with a lot of decent stuff available (and, I'll admit, a lot of tat too!)

Same for those tinted grey number plates.

Perhaps that's where you guys live. The overwhelming majority of BMWs still have the original dealer or the supplying s/h dealer plates where I am.

Why are wind deflectors so offensive to some?
I've had them on many of my cars, always Heko, they're fairly useful.

I can leave the windows cracked when it's warm and not worry about rain, with the added bonus of it being more difficult to see the windows are slightly open.

They're also good for keeping the rain out when driving if the windows are open, and I think they look good most of the time.

Ok but we are hardly discussing SEMA quality stuff here so far.

These are mine and they undoubtedly automotive tat that I couldn't resist from AliExpress. My S Class is super sensible and fuss free, my old Mitubishi Shogun is quite the opposite so can't take itself too seriously! haha That's my excuse anyway. biggrinbiggrin

My pal has an e46 M3. I think he said his M3 has less M badges on it than any new M-sport car.

When I was 17 the only tat I could afford for my Mini 850 was a large set of these, which nicely restricted forward view.

If you had a decent car (like a jacked up Capri) for the Berk About Town they were the thing to have.

I liked to think I put them on for the irony, but I don’t think I was fooling anyone.

Cripes, I didn't realise how long ago that thread started.
2004 apparently. Unfortunately the pictures are now missing
