And the prize for the least relevant but most sycophantic statement goes to...
I think you misunderstand the meaning of SycophanticMeaning of sycophant in English. someone who praises powerful or rich people in a way that is not sincere, usually in order to get some advantage from them: The prime minister is surrounded by sycophants. He is enabled by low-life sycophants who thrill in being around his celebrity.
In anyway relate to a throwaway comment about a friend?

Insincerity is not a characteristic of sycophancy.
You still haven't explained how a throwaway comment about a friend is sycophancy. Both fit squarely within the definition of sycophancy!

Thanks to everyone. Transportation has now been arranged with a firm that will be taking the Bentayga and delivering it to the hotel.
For everyone asking how I went from Seat/Nissan to a Bentayga. Bought a whole load of Cryptocurrency which shot up in value over 2 years.
So why waste everyone’s time by putting up a request that you had no interest in following up?For everyone asking how I went from Seat/Nissan to a Bentayga. Bought a whole load of Cryptocurrency which shot up in value over 2 years.
You’re full of it.

HF's ski-ing skills were totally irrelevant to the discussion. The only reasons I can imagine for bringing it up are (i) to suck up in case he reads it or (ii) to make sure everyone on the thread knows you are friends with him (as you were careful to underscore in your follow-up post).
Both fit squarely within the definition of sycophancy!
A question was asked about who had swapped a car with another Pistonhead, I replied that he had for use during a ski season, so it had relevance to my answer. Both fit squarely within the definition of sycophancy!
My comment about him being a friend was in defence to an attack by a Doofus.

Firstly, if Doofus hadn't jumped in with the sycophancy comment, Oscarindia wouldn't have felt the need to defend his post.
Secondly, Oi didn't underscore anything, as far as I can see - he simply said he was a friend. Nothing more and made the point in response to Doofus's snide comment.
Bottom line, Oi's post was taken completely out of context, and now you're trying to paint his responses as being something they aren't.

If OI got offended; I apologise. I was being light-hearted, but obviously touched a nerve. My opinion, however, remains, and Jimi jumping and claiming that an irrelevant aside was taken out of context doesn't change that.

Sorry - there was a typo in what I wrote. I had meant to say "follow-up posts" & was referring to it being reiterated.
It was only 'cos he hadn't answered the question!Anyway, all's well that ends well, misunderstanding all round, and I promise not to put any throwaway comments into posts in future!
More relevant to this, I needed a VW Transporter brought back from the Alps in the first lock down.
I saw someone on a local Facebook group needing transport back to the UK with some bikes, spoke to him, did some checking on his background and he drove it back for me.
I got my Van, he got his bikes back to the UK and everyone was happy.
So I can see the reason the OP put this up, because sometimes these things work out well.

I see. 'New Money' explains the Bentayga purchase.Just teasing, enjoy the trip and don't take the ribbing on here too seriously.
