Can it still drive through a muddy field in its nurburgring spec?
Trust me, they can't do that in any spec short of Rothmans Dakar!I'm sure if you fitted suitable tyres it would be fast on mud too.

This is very silly. This is not how Cayennes are used.
They should go for a record for "Longest journey between toilet stops." or "Longest conference call on speakerphone without waking the kids in the back." or "Longest drive without removing an elbow from the arm rest."
My old 280,000km Cayenne is being replaced this year with a new one ( GTS...need the V8). I do not think of the old vehicle as being for driving pleasure but more as a working vehicle that is quite versatile...big V8 with plenty of towing capacity, can haul large dogs, ride trails, run immense distances in comfort. At this stage it has dents and scratches but has been a good vehicle after 14 years or rough use.. I have no interest in track performance (or in the frightful looking "coupe"), but the regular one is fine:

Same here, loved my old 2nd generation V8 diesel, just gone to a new Cayenne too. Had an F-Pace SVR in between which was a better drivers car than either Cayenne but sacrificed a lot of the versatility. I didn't realise how much I missed that do anything, tow anything and go anywhere capability until about a year in when I couldn't work out why I didn't love the Jag as much as the slower, wobblier, 150,000 mile worn out stinkpot that came before it.
I actually got misty eyed when I walked away from it, and not just because I only got 17 grand for it on the trade in.

Yes, because when I want to cut lap times, my first thought is to use something the equivalent of the QE2 with a billion bhp.
Good luck using that in tight spaces, like pretty much all of London and/or multi story car parks.
Pfft. POS SUVs.

As a petrolhead, it troubles me that I should be impressed and excited by this, but in reality, I just don't give a toss. If I dig really deep there's some respect for the engineering involved, but that is really about it.
Who does this actually matter to beyond Porsche's marketing team? Not a rhetorical question by the way.

I don't think the fact it's 1 or 2 seconds quicker or slower than the next car matters (to me). Anything with a time this fast is going to perform well when you want it to. I don't read into the exact numbers much, but a ballpark figure can be useful.

Here is my mate on a trackday in his X5M. Was quicker than all the hot hatch stuff.
If you can get the link below to open then it shows him overtaking and sodding off from a modded 308GTI/R whatever they are these days.
