This thread is 2 years old, so we must be a bit slow on the uptake where I live, but these plates suddenly seem to be the must-have fashion accessory for many drivers around here. Whoever manufactures or fits them must be making a killing. I just find it strange that so many car owners think it worthwhile removing their perfectly good orthodox plates and replacing them with these new ones. Am I missing something? The last time I owned a car with raised number plates digits was my 1975 P reg Hillman Imp.
Do you live on the Isle of Wight or Man?

I’d obviously spotted them before, but there seems to have been a massive increase in adopters over the past couple of months, which is what prompted me to search out this thread.

Shadow as they stand proud of the back plate.

Usually on the front of some Audi or Range Rover driven by a tattooed deano with his duck lips girlfriend in the passenger seat.

The image is probably spot on for a lot of people you see with very shiny cars. I guess that is the joy of what was cheap interest rates. We'll probably see less of that now.

As for duck lips with orange tans. WTF is that about? They're trying to be more beautiful but in fact make themselves look unattractive and idiotic at the same time.

I'm sorry what? biglaugh

Unpopular but I got 4D's in the end, the shallowest of them but needed new plates and they look good on a car that isn't subtle anyway.

Round this way if I'm looking for the knobheads to avoid then the chameleon tint, front windscreen decals and almost every SUV/BMW/Merc/Prius drivers are a good place to start.

Can count the number of 4D plates on one hand in a 30 mile round trip to the parents, so even if they were all douchebags I'd barely see them anyway. Weird fonts or black and white/inverted plates really show you what the driver is like.

As someone said earlier in the thread - the only good thing about 4D plates is it's a clear indication that the driver is a total bellend - and to give them a wide berth. This may be a sweeping generalisation but it's completely true, in all cases.
