Another facelift estate owner here, this time a very niche spec. Colour is Dolomite Brown with Porcelain leather, which would have been a costly Designo option for the first owner (brave choice, I'd say!). Under no certain terms could I stomach the usual colour choices or cosmetic additions that seems to plague the model, so I was very pleased when this one came up for sale late last year with a tad under 40k miles. I'd have loved the 18" wheels for the best ride comfort and sensible profile tyres, but I must concede the 19"s work best aesthetically to my eyes.

Other than annual service, it's only had the mismatched rubber replaced recently with Michelin PS4Ss. The car is mechanically standard and I don't think I need to play with it, as it's just a nice daily to have whilst I can still enjoy a 6.2 ICE with my modest annual mileage.

I'd get shot to pieces I'm sure, but I would very much consider replacing the silver interior trim with the dark walnut option, to further enhance the 'old man' spec, otherwise I'm looking forward to many more miles in it. A complete sledgehammer to complement the svelte Lotus in the garage.
That colour scheme makes it is so, so much more desireable than the normal drab examples. I've seen the odd S-Class in that colour and it makes it look like an expensive £100k car rather than another Uber XL too.

The C63 is a great car but I think an SL or CL with the older 5.4 V8 AMG Kompressor engine is the one that will be best remembered, get one of those while you still can smile
The noise alone from the Supercharger is worth the price of buying one apart from the brutish performance which also edges out the 63s.

Had to go out in mine today and had a few minutes blast after a gearbox service. Wow - the service has (nearly) cured the dull-witted box and shifts are so much better.

If you are around 40-50k miles and not had one, do it.

Was looking to replace an M2, as needed 4 doors. Wanted to love it after reading excellent reviews and test drove a 2012 model, great engine but can't get along with the gearbox, and don't think the start-up bark can be coded out, so went with e90 m3.

Neighbours already commented about early morning M2 start, the C63 exhaust will result in riots. Rebel in denial, love the sound, can't deal with the neighbours....

Perhaps the gearbox service would have solved the issue. tempted to swap for one year after.

Is now a good time to say "I told you so"?

Or will people shoot the messenger yet again and completely turn a blind eye to the message?

Oh, and £11k for that one repair? Wow. Ae you kidding me?
It’s not £11k, and it’s really not a good look trying to pick holes in cars far nicer than yours.

You really sound like the jealous kid at school that didn’t get the cool trainers everyone else had so spent the rest of the term belittling them for your own self gratification

Only now your doing it on a public forum about a car you’ve never owned

Sad
It would be nice if you could actually address the points raised, rather than shooting the messenger.

If a fight starts out on here, will you send your dad in?
If you’re going to call something a pile of st and quote one source, when you get pulled up on it don’t just sit there squealing “he said it not me”
I’m not sure why you posted on here if it wasn’t to troll, having obviously not owned one or ( and I’m going out on a limb here) aren’t in the market for one.

The performance pack upgraded brakes were ridiculously pricey to replace if I remember rightly.

People have. And you’ve ignored those posts, and just keep trying to suggest that these are bad cars and bad engines, despite owners disagreeing with you.

It just comes across as a bit bitter

Miss my old 2012 one, surprisingly economical for a 6.2 and surprisingly grippy too.

I had 18s, 2 tone leather, sunroof, intelligent headlights which were brilliant and factory LSD.

A pair of the floating discs can be sourced from autodoc for just over £500 for the pair. A massive saving over what the dealers charge.

I quoted 2 sources (that is, I spoke about the car itself, and discussed its technical faults, pointing to people who've pulled them down and reported their findings).

And you speak of "sending your dad in" and "he said it not me"...

As for why I'm posting on here, dude, this is a public forum, and I'm speaking about the car being discussed, not talking about sending someone's dad in. Unlike yourself...

What's the point having an article on a car if you only expect to get commentary you agree with? You're basically talking to yourself then, and closed to the opinions of others. And it goes without saying, these people quoted might actually be right, and be able to tell you something that might help you avoid some expensive costs with your car.

But whatevs. Tell me again how I'm going to get my dad in. Heaven forbid you actually speak about the car itself.

Had my 2012 facelift car since new. PPP, LSD plus a few other options. I love it as much today as when I picked it up 9 years ago. Zero issues, no rattles/squeaks, it's been bullet proof. Amazing car, don't think I'll ever sell it.

I’d enjoy restoring this to it’s former glory. It looks alright - just needs to be de-chavved/de-Birminghammed.
Agreed but, personally, I think staying off it is probably the best plan. If the owner didn't mind driving it illegally then how much has he actually looked after it? It amazes me just how common it seems that people get away with illegally mounted number plates and suchlike. The front side windows look over tinted as well. If the selling dealer gives no fks about offering a car in an obviously illegal state then how much help is he going to be when something goes wrong?

You do come across as someone very bitter about this car. Which is deeply odd.

I’m sure prospective owners will have carried out due diligence with those that have a deep understanding of the car.

Address the points raised, that one over exaggerated repair cost has been raised on several occasions as incorrect. Something you have chosen to ignore.

Shoot the messenger I shall, your bringing up absolute bullst about these cars as you’ve “done research on the internet”
The vast majority of owners have very little issues as can be seen on here, myself included.
People always make a noise when something goes wrong, but usually say nothing when everything works as it should

I’m under no illusions that these are cheap vehicles to maintain, but neither are their direct rivals, one of which I have also owned which wasn’t exactly faultless given it’s relative youth.

I’d love to know what you’d spend the same budget on.

I love how with the 18's it can fly a bit under the radar a bit.
To my eyes, those rims look great - I actually prefer them to a lot of the OEM 19's. The fact that it makes the car look less "AMG!!" is a bonus.

When I had my C43's they were only subtly different from all the the other C Classes out there and I like that.

As an owner for the past 9 years, are you sure it's been a good car as Rob has read on the internet that these are rubbish?

I really like them by the way.

Well, all I can say is that he's perfectly entitled to his opinion, but I will continue to enjoy my car smile

Actually I did tell a little fib earlier, my car had a windscreen washer level sensor replaced under warranty, my car is obviously a lemon laugh
