That said, thank you, for being yet another straw man refusing to discuss the issues in question, and instead attacking the messenger.
Oh fk off. I know this is a public forum so any can post but the amount of negative dross is making it unbearable. Many actual owners have already given fair responses on ownership experience. Jesus. That said, thank you, for being yet another straw man refusing to discuss the issues in question, and instead attacking the messenger.

Address the points raised, that one over exaggerated repair cost has been raised on several occasions as incorrect. Something you have chosen to ignore.
Shoot the messenger I shall, your bringing up absolute bullst about these cars as you’ve “done research on the internet”
The vast majority of owners have very little issues as can be seen on here, myself included.
People always make a noise when something goes wrong, but usually say nothing when everything works as it should
I’m under no illusions that these are cheap vehicles to maintain, but neither are their direct rivals, one of which I have also owned which wasn’t exactly faultless given it’s relative youth.
I’d love to know what you’d spend the same budget on.
You say I'm bringing up "absolute bullst"? As I said before, if you disagree with the findings that the people quoted have raised, take it up with them. That said, if you bothered to watch the videos in question, they actually show you examples of the head bolts, with the earlier models being much thinner, and a resultant corrosion attack. Having presented that to the camera, I'd love to know how that is "absolute bullst", when you can see it with your own two eyes.Shoot the messenger I shall, your bringing up absolute bullst about these cars as you’ve “done research on the internet”

As for what I'd spend my money on, I'd invest it in hookers and blow. But that's neither here nor there. When a thread comes up on THAT topic, by all means let's discuss it. But in the meantime, this thread is about the c63.

They have their faults but in my experience are in no way the POS you describe in your initial comment. My car has never been a garage queen and has been used properly since day 1 and given it’s history it’s been a very reliable car throwing no big bills thus far in its 7 years and 73k
I wouldn’t personally buy the car in the original post as it’s been messed about with

Had to go out in mine today and had a few minutes blast after a gearbox service. Wow - the service has (nearly) cured the dull-witted box and shifts are so much better.
If you are around 40-50k miles and not had one, do it.
This resonates, I'm now at the point where I'm using manual mode when it's cold after getting tired of it being unable to make its mind up what gear to be in. Did you get it done at a dealer, gearbox specialist or an indy?If you are around 40-50k miles and not had one, do it.

Indy - A1BM in Stevenage. Tell them I sent you if you get there. Under £325 really well spent. big_rob_sydney said:

There is no need to pay attention to your message, because you've never owned one so cannot give first hand evidence on ownership experience. Anything you say is either hearsay or non expert opinion (try looking that up), both of which are evidentially worthless. So nothing really you can usefully add.
Bon weekend!

I think it’s because he needs to make himself feel better about not being in the market for one. It’s like when the lingerie model turns you down at a party, you try to tell yourself “she was probably a pain anyway.”
I ran a facelift estate for a while. Absolutely zero issues with it. I had a service plan with Mercedes so FMBSH and well looked after. There was some seller's remorse when the new owner drove off.
I never understood the horror stories of single figure mpg and shredding its rear tyres. I averaged 20mpg which was mainly around to town and the odd squirt on a slip road which I think for that engine wasn't too bad. Tyre wear was no worse than anything else with 480bhp. I didn't drive like a tool and hang out in McDonalds car parks trying to impress the yoof. I think some internet bravado comes into play with the running costs.
I'd buy another estate in a heartbeat, practical and subtle but a prod of the loud pedal and you're propelled down the road with the most amazing noise. The coupe and saloon evokes visions of idiots with personalised 3D number plates, bouncing off the limiters in decatted cars through towns so not for me.

Coupes attract the knuckle draggers slightly faster than the saloon
Estate thus far is invisible to said knuckle draggers vision which pleases me hugely

It would be nice if you could actually address the points raised, rather than shooting the messenger.
If a fight starts out on here, will you send your dad in?If you’re going to call something a pile of st and quote one source, when you get pulled up on it don’t just sit there squealing “he said it not me”
I’m not sure why you posted on here if it wasn’t to troll, having obviously not owned one or ( and I’m going out on a limb here) aren’t in the market for one.
And you speak of "sending your dad in" and "he said it not me"...
As for why I'm posting on here, dude, this is a public forum, and I'm speaking about the car being discussed, not talking about sending someone's dad in. Unlike yourself...
What's the point having an article on a car if you only expect to get commentary you agree with? You're basically talking to yourself then, and closed to the opinions of others. And it goes without saying, these people quoted might actually be right, and be able to tell you something that might help you avoid some expensive costs with your car.
But whatevs. Tell me again how I'm going to get my dad in. Heaven forbid you actually speak about the car itself.
I’m sure people who might want to buy all welcome first hand posts about what can go wrong.
And my dad’s harder than your dad
The article does say the C55 this car replaced was a bit behind the curve, so to speak, on the twisty bits but if ever Mercedes manipulated their stats down it was with the C55 AMG, mine in estate guise.
On two occasions I was, metaphorically I'm not up the chuff, stuck to the bumpers of 1st gen. C63s. We're talking dual carriageway/open A roads but that engine in that C55 was so sweet. The C32 was a bit of a beast but not galvanised so I doubt few if any remain in good nick especially as forced induction had the tweakers a tweaking. I've no particular reason to fib but the 100bhp extra E55, bar a few kilos resulted in a similar scenario but obviously Merc have to separate them on paper. Rare and lovely car circa 120 estates in the country, sleeper as an estate and only one extra bill in 2 years ownership. Secondary air pump? £800 please. Though I miss it I part ex'd for a 5.0ltr XFR. Initally not interested got back to me within 20 minutes after a quick chat with AMG specialist a few doors down who offered retail value. My cool story of the day.
