I've always been a big fan of these(I've also had 3 Mondeos including an ST24), this looks like a lovely example too. The colour of these has always been up my street as well.
This is up for more money now than a paid for my just over 1 year old ST24 back in 2001!(£10k).
For sure? This is up for more money now than a paid for my just over 1 year old ST24 back in 2001!(£10k).
I only kept it around 8 months though because at the time I found it a tad boring to drive in comparison to my XR4x4(that did have a full Magnex exhaust/filters etc to liven it up a bit though).
I swapped the ST24 for a S14a 200SX(2000 X reg) in 2002 and I paid £12k for that with 19k miles on it. I loved the 200SX though and I kept it for 4 years(it was easily one of the best cars that I've had/especially after I'd modified it to 250bhp).

I'd be very happy with either of those. I loved the days when you could get a nice V6 petrol engine from pretty much all of the manufacturers of cars this size. Now it's mostly diesel/petrol-hybrid/electric in comparison. Times have definitely changed for sure.
I always really enjoy looking back, but I'm not so fond of looking forward now...because there isn't a lot to get excited about/look forward to with the world of cars(unless you love electric cars of course) for me.
There's a lot of 'forgotten' SuperTourer era homologation cars.
The MK1 Mondeo was available in 'Si' trim, which was for ST regulations if I recall, before they partnered with ProDrive and went full force for the title.
There was the Laguna RTi, which was nowhere near as special but had a respectable donkey under the bonnet.
There was also a 406 that I can't quite remember the name of.
The Accord Type R interestingly is not the car that was raced in SuperTouring, the engine is completely different (it's an 'F' series 4 pot as seen in the normal Accords, but with a H22 head on it).

I've had use of a few Mondeo' the nicest a 2.5 Ghia, not a bad car at all, smooth Duratec V6 and comfortable to sit in, a great handling car, I remember thinking an ST200 would be a nice car, I would be into one of these but this is one pretty spendy, a quick look and I found a clean looking gen2 ST220 with the super comfy looking Recaro chairs upfront, sat-nav and everything looking nice and original, £2,489, if you have a Mondeo size hole in your life I'd be looking at one of these.
I had the one below until 4yrs ago - i bought it because it was local and i hadn't bought a car in a while..... And i liked the colour
we ran it for 30K....
It was a good one and It was in use as a family car with us until its sale - They are much quicker and produced more power than ford published at the time due to the escort cosworth being king of the hill when produced.
With a working IMRC they sound fantastic although they are not that quick until you get up to speed - from 90-120 it was quicker than it should've been!
I can verify the one i had did 151mph (gps) loaded with luggage and 3 passengers....
I miss the uniqueness (often used to get comments on the colour) And the handling was genuinely great, very flat, taught and changed direction well.....
Infact i did a drive from north wales to devon yesterday and whilst going down the motorway i reminisced with my Mrs about how good the ST200 was at both crossing the mountains and nailing it down the motorway - our current Subaru is a bit st by comparison
I sold it to a fella in Scotland for just over £900 in 2017 with 120K and no known faults......

I imagine It is in storage as it went to a Ford enthusiast who was over the moon with it.He had the minor bodywork issues sorted with a repaint and had every intention of showing it and winning prizes with it - he sent me pictures of the work
Looked at the MOT - hardly terminal, Obvs waxoiled over the brake pipes and it was always hard on tyres

That is true Lee, everyone seemed to do a decent size ( 2.5/3.0 ) V6 in a Mondeo sized car - Alfa 156, Audi A4, Mondeo , Vectra, Renault Laguna, Citroen Xantia, VW Passat, Merc C ClassI loved the days when you could get a nice V6 petrol engine from pretty much all of the manufacturers of cars this size. We had a legnum VR4 for over 5 years, that had a lovely v6 as well. A lot came with manual boxes too!
The twin turbos made for some interesting overtakes too..
I love these cars, never had chance to own an ST200 as much as I would have liked to, I did own an ST24 which was a brilliant car despite being a little underpowered, sadly rust killed that one off.
I also owned a Mk3 Mondeo Ghia X with the same V6 engine which again was brilliant, I sold that for a 320i Touring and I should have kept the Mondeo.
I tried to buy a Mk3 ST220 on a couple of occasions but never found the right one. I have a bit of a fondness for Mondeo's
