RE: Festival of Speed green lit as a pilot event

It’s not innocence, it’s a test for whether you are carrying a virus. That you even think to frame it that way is not normal or rational. You aren’t coming across as sane, and you’re just crapping all over a thread about a good thing.
Seriously and respectfully - if you really think like this and aren’t just trolling, speak to someone.

Do you want a world where children have to be tested to see if they can go into school? Seriously and respectfully - if you really think like this and aren’t just trolling, speak to someone.
Or for adults to be tested to go into work?
Or to enter Tesco to buy food?
People may well be carrying some virus. Now that we've vaccinated high-90s % of the vulnerable, to propose a society-changing 'zeroCovid' test-everything-all-the-time approach that costs a mind-blowing £100bn per year (ref: Project Moonshot costs, with the NHS budget being £113bn IIRC) for an endemic virus with a 99.x% survival rate (averaged across all groups) is madness and totally disproportionate to the risk.

By their own words, they are supposed to be understanding a range of different approaches. That should include a 'control', as all experiments worth anything do.
All they are doing now is saying 'approach X has this outcome'.
With no Control in place, we don't know if X is better or worse than 'No action taken'.
Fair enough, if they want to treat it as an actual controlled experiment without a control then they are doing it wrong. I'm not defending the government, but I can see the benefit of putting some entry regulations into an event the size of FOS at the present time. All they are doing now is saying 'approach X has this outcome'.

Just become the Health Secretary and then you can advocate social distancing, not mixing with other households and telling people not to visit dying relatives in care homes while you're regularly sticking your tongue down your mistresses throat at work before each going home to your respective spouses and kids.
Exempting UEFA officials and VIPs from quarantine rules being enforced with five figure fines on the general population is also indefensible.
I honestly believe the government has "lost" the majority of the public now. Absolutely no credibility left as far as I am (and everyone I speak to is) concerned

The principle is the same. We now presume everyone is infected, and therefore barred entry, unless they are able to prove otherwise. Yes, it's a different scenario to law and order. But it's the principle of being 'under suspicion' that is the problem. Especially when you are then treated differently to others. That is discriminatory. We try not to do that in our society, as we've come to accept that it's wrong.Seriously and respectfully - if you really think like this and aren’t just trolling, speak to someone.
It is even more incongruous when (a) the threat really is not very large to the majority of people and (b) for those for whom it is, they have a vaccine that can reduce their risk to a similar level to everyone else's.
No, its not perfect. As you said, we do many other things that are much more onerous, and there are many things we do that are much higher risk. Like driving yourself to the FoS.
It's a question of proportion, isn't it. Banning people who don't want to have a very unpleasant and reasonably pointless test or who have not yet had a vaccine from an event where everyone is at low risk of harm from a not very dangerous endemic virus, is completely unjustifiable. It's great that the event can go ahead, but be careful what you wish for.
Looks under 16s will be admitted to FoS. This is great news as all the other ERP events seemed to be 16+ only.
Proof of double jab via NHS App or Lateral Flow Test result for 11+ years old by NHS email or text message.
There is no mention of the Lateral Flow Test being supervised. Make of that what you will.

Given the amount of control the government (any government) already has over us it’s amazing that anyone can be arsed bleating on about government control and overreach.
Just do the test and carry on and yeah you’re a comrade to the regime. That you think otherwise suggests you’re over inflated your importance to the grand scheme of things.
Much like those who think Bill Gates is micro chipping them, have you ever thought ‘why would he bother with me?’ cause I highly doubt he knows or cares you exist.
It’s a simple test. Yeah it’s a bit st but so what it you get to go to events that you enjoy? Stop trying to see the bigger picture as if you can do anything about it and focus on what really affects you personally day to day. If you wanna go see cars and bikes go up a hill and enjoy a day/weekend out then you know what to do…

Looking forward to the actual event so discussion, photos, tips, thoughts, reviews etc can drown out all this nonsense. It's not like there aren't already 10 threads in the Dadsnet section of this site to argue about this stuff.
If you feel that strongly and want to bring about change, an obscure thread in a sub-section on a car forum is probably not the best place to be exerting an immense amount of time and effort.
