I drove an RS3 last year and I'll be honest, I wasn't that impressed. It was a late car, so will have had a PPF. The engine was undoubtedly nice, but I found it barely audible, and that was the aspect I was hoping/expecting to enjoy the most. Hopefully Audi will have made the most of it this time, but it needs to sound better than the most recent car IMO.
Thats why you buy second hand and mod... Absolute weapons.....Now that the M135i is another boring 4cyl, this probably has the most exciting sounding Hot Hatch engine, and that it likely isnt totally dull to drive it could be the pick of the bunch.
The price will be eye-watering though. Lightly used C63s/RS4s etc just offer so much better value for money IMO.
I also feel that a large market for these cars (relatively young, flashy, likes speed etc) are jumping into Tesla M3Ps, so im not entirely sure who would buy these anymore.

All these 'so dull' comments.
Not everyone wants their car to kill them on the way to work, or taking the kids to the park.
You know what I like, and I'd wager plenty of others? A very fast car that's a doddle to drive and a nice place to sit for the 98% of the time I'm in traffic, or have my wife and baby in the car, or wine bottles falling about after the shop, or am completely disengaged thinking about work / the awful weather / the fact it's still only Tuesday. And then, the 2% of the time I want to go fast and have no discernible talent to pilot a death trap, it's there ready and willing.
Lovely thing.

The problem with Drift Mode is it goads people who don't have the skill to slide a car about into thinking they do.
The VSA is the only thing keeping most of the "Innit bruv" VAG hatch drivers on the road in the first place; The last thing they need is it getting them sideways as well...

Thats why you buy second hand and mod... Absolute weapons.....I do wonder what proportion of the people calling them dull have ever driven one. Certainly they haven't driven this one, as it hasn't been released yet.
I'll make my mind up if and when I have a go in one, not based on spec sheets and certainly not based on magazine or internet opinions. If more people did the same, perhaps we'd see less of the PH Bingo type comments every time there's a new car launch...

Help me out… which are the rival cars that try to kill there occupants and are death traps? I’m shocked such vehicles can be sold to the public! Not everyone wants their car to kill them on the way to work, or taking the kids to the park.

No discernible talent required you say? There ready and willing…
I know there isn't a price, but I know it will be close to the cost of a house as usual!
I don't know how people can afford to buy these types of cars anymore, even a warm hot hatch is pushing 30 grand these days. It wasn't a million years ago I bought my WRX brand new for just over 16 grand, I couldn't get an ST-Line Fiesta pretending to be a hot hatch for that money these days!!
I know I must be getting old, but that was only 15 years ago, not a long time in car terms!

So fking boring
Spot on. I hated my RS3. Yes, it was really quick, but it was noisy, uncomfortable, torque steered like a wayward pig, had all the charm and personality of a fridge-freezer and you would not believe some of the scum that called when I came to sell it. Sold it to Revilo Cars (who were really good, BTW) in order not to have to deal with said scum. A car dealer acquaintance says RS3s are popular with lower level drug dealers, and I can well believe it.Lots of this car is too safe rubbish…. All modern performance cars are safe! How many commute in an old TVR to work?! Drive any M4 C63, 911 etc etc etc…. You have to be driving like a total arse to hit the limit in anything…. One exception is the little Toyota GT86 and no one bought those!
As for bell ends driving them, no reflection of the car and with exception of 911 I don’t know any German performance car that isn’t afflicted by the tinted window pop and bang brigade…. Who cares though, spec it nicely and drive it normally.
They’re great little cars these- I’d happily own one. Glad this engine still exists, great daily driver.

Every film has had it for 70 years is precisely my point why it's so dull, if you've seen one you've seen them all. Dab of oppo, yep, there's skill in handling a flick when trying to get somewhere fast, but it's the "cr*p I'm gonna bin in, no I've saved it" adrenaline that's the fun bit, purposely acting like a s%^te Ken Block in a car park to your mates? hmmmm no thanks way too manufactured. I get these things are marketed to wannabee Shmees to use to their 100 'gram followers but I'll stand by my statement that they're just running out of actual proper car ideas!
I agree with most of your point there wholeheartedly, except for all drifting being dull. The manufactured 'drift mode' in a dull hatchback at Tesco is indeed a bit ste though, so we're almost in alignment! As a suitably concise explanation for why 'a dab of oppo' has grown in to 'drift mode', I believe many would subscribe to the notion of:
If some is good, more is better

Please, please point me in the direction of idiots binning their prize "chariots" into a hedgerow that will make my day! :-D
Have you not seen YouTube? Pick your chariot of choice (or just go with 'leaving car meet') and then pop the word 'fails' on the end. Almost unlimited viewing pleasure is at your fingertips MyV10BarksAndBites said:
