That thing has so much metal in the back that in reality it looks like a sideboard on wheels. Especially funny if a smaller person drives it - also visible on the photos above. In short it is totally unsexy.
I know what you mean, this high sided look seems to pretty much be a given with all modern car design though.

I'm assuming there is some kind of safety regulation for the height of the lights that must define the height of the front and rear (plus side crash safety presumably). The rear light basically on top of the back end and are inline with the tops of the doors. Again the front light aren't really even in the front of the car but sitting along side the bonnet on the top surface of the front of the car, this being above the level of the wheel arches. It doesn't seem to make for the best looking cars, but with the caveat of as modern designs go, I think the Portofino is quite nice overall.

It's possible to buy any car without options, it's a fact that, when specifying a new car, most people add 10% - 20% over the basic price in options to expensive cars, mostly because they can afford to and partly because of "encouragement" by the dealership ...

I wonder why Ferrari have not cashed in on the manual gearbox value being placed on cars. Like a 599 GTB with a manual gearbox is worth 300%-400% of a regular GTB.

If they started offering it an option, would people buy it for "nostalgic motoring" ?

If I was in the market for this sort of car, top down open gate gearbox would be heaven.

The geartrains are now so efficient, fast and flawless, that adding some human interaction back in now, seems to me a logical step. I suspect I might be in the minority, hence no business case (but Porsche is catering for it with manual as GT3 option).
Too much power for a reliable manual I would assume

"In that moment, you realise what a burden it is for any sporting car to carry on its back a roof like this one, all that extra weight sure to be felt at every braking point and each time you turn the wheel."

It's probably hardly noticed at all by the 50% of Cali/Porto owners for which this is their first Ferrari.
Top-down, wind in hair on a nice summer's day and a folded roof in the back is one of the last things on your mind at every braking point.

Looks pretty smooth and goes pretty well. All good.
"though the rear seats are only any good for small children" - a disadvantage here but USP on a 911...ironic.
Find the modern Ferrari interiors a bit too busy but there seem like a lot of options to be dealing with.

Does it come with a Ferrari cushion so that driver can see over the steering wheel?
It does…but it has to be N rated…and at a cost of £17000 ..plus VAT…only available at Ferrari dealers…obviously…

Should the cushion require any ‘ maintenance ‘ such as plumping it will need to be returned to the dealer who will carry out said ‘plumping’ at a cost…£5000 ….plus VAT..

Should ‘Sir’ even consider using a non Ferrari cushion….and Sir has an extended warranty?..you can see where this is going can’t you…
Nope! "N" rated is Porsche stuff. Ferrari is "F" or "K".

…and I thought Porsche stuff was W an K …..Porsche 911 cabriolets certainly have a mahoosive booty and this Fezza looks tiny by comparison.

There's a lot going on on that steering wheel.

Is there a big advantage of this set up over normal stalks?
I always assumed it was to make space for better gear shift paddles?
Those indicator buttons are hellishly annoying, especially on roundabouts, as they move with the wheel.

Maybe if you drive one every day, you get used to them, but as a very occasional Ferrari driver I hate the things!

I want to like these as I've been toying with a Cali T, Portofino for a while.
Love the front and rear tweaks
The interior is looking very dated as it is derived from the original Cali.
Why couldn't they have put the Roma interior in?
They all seem to sit high on the suspension as well frown

I didn't mean to do that! Sorry! You made the joke and it did work. I smiled. Next time, I'll hold back ruining the humor.
