Stop me from buying my old car back
Discussion
Avoid it.
Like going back to an ex girlfriend you dumped because she chewed with her mouth open, despite which she could still out arm wrestle you and was "fun".
Bad idea, because now, to you it is second / third / fourth hand. Automotive equivalent of sloppy seconds (Can I write that?).

Decades ago I got on a train from Yorkshire to visit my mate at keele university
Coming home the train went past a scrapyard
As i stared at the pile of scrap cars I saw my fathers old rover p6 v8 sat a top of a pile of cars: looking perfect from a distance
Still upsets me now.
Buy it.

Ive dont it 3 times. Though 2 of those times was the same car!
Whilst the argument of "you sold it for a reason" if often true, in my case, it was more a case of, having had other stuff in the interim, i realised how good they both were.
Sure, when i got them back, things needed doing, but that applies to most cars.

Always regretting selling my MK1 MX5 and often wondered what happened to it. I'd have bought it back if I could have found it.
Randomly a mate of mine sent me a picture of 'my' car that he had been following - some 10 years after I sold it.
I loved that car. An MOT check showed its not being looked after and pretty much a rust bucket :-(

I would definitely go take a look at it at least. If it hasn’t been looked after to your standards then maybe look elsewhere than go through the hassle and expense of returning it to the condition you want.
If the car is something like the supra and 200sx in your garage, these older cars have characteristics that you can’t get in newer cars. It is perfectly reasonable that people can have been owning various cars and realise they didn’t give as much enjoyment as a previously owned model.
I expect that loads of modern classics that are being bought at higher prices today are being bought by people who have owned those models in the past.
Not that that is a guarantee against disappointment for those owners!!

Out of my 7 cars, i have owned two of them twice;
Mk2 Golf Gti 8v; bought back with a blown engine after 3 owners and 6 years in 2015. Saved from certain death as the two other posters on the add are known to break up anything cheap!
205 1.6 Gti; sold in 06 and bought back earlier this year after 15 years and 8 owners... needs a bit of work though but i had searched for it for years thinking it was still local after mot history briefly showed testing station but was a rolling shell 260miles away lol
Depends what the negatives would be if you buy it back; mine arent daily drivers and I have a mechanic mate and premises to work in..
