Driving professionally for 10 years, at 24?

So race driver, getaway driver or American from an incredibly rural state?

Also not many insurers provide 3rd party DOC cover at that age, I couldn't get it until 25 and wasn't fully comp on other cars until 30 with a trade policy.
"24 years driving experience including 10 professionally"
The other 14 years unprofessionally ?

Just seen this in our local ‘grumbled’ facebook page

‘If you don’t ask, you don’t get…
This seems to be the philosophy on a lot of FB groups at the moment.

Things people wouldn't dream of having the cheek to ask for in person, they have no qualms about behind the relative anonymity of FB.

"Has anyone got a TV/Phone/Washing Machine/Porsche they no longer need?" rolleyes

This is often preceeded or followed up with "I'm a single mum"
Or “I’m a key worker/work for the NHS”

Intrigued by their comprehension of what ‘fully comp’ actually means, unless they have a fancy whizzo bolt on traders policy.
He probably thinks he has comprehensive insurance cover until he crashes your nice car then realised he has TP cover at best to drive it.
There is a slim chance they will be insured fully comp. I paid about £30 to upgrade my any bike cover (included in my bike policy) from TP to FC.

I didn't know it was even an option until they offered it to me on renewal, seemed like a bargain. I'd assume some insurers offer this for cars too.

They do, on my modified car policy I have FC driving anything, however the maximum claim is £20k.

Was only a £20 add-on.

Sounds like the Facebook person doesn't have the readies for the daily rental fee let alone a credit card, or a credit card where a few thousand can be reserved by the hire company.

There's still a few wacky prices on there: 62 plate Astra for £62, £39 at my local independent for a 20 plate.

One of my local FB groups had someone ask if they could borrow a car for 2 days a week.

I can't remember if they offered to 'pay petrol'.

My wife and I are both fully comp any vehicle and all our vehicles are fully comp any driver over 30. It's not particularly unusual.

Facebook really does lower the general population's ability to think if something is a good idea to ask out loud on a public platform.

This is like the new version of "my child has <unfortunate life situation> can someone drive them to the prom in a Ferrari please. (but not the California, thats not a proper Ferrari really is it). "
I am not on FaceBook.

I like the California. Part of the appeal to me is the exhaust outlets.

No, you’re a normalbloke and not a single mum wiv disabilities who works as a nurse on the ambulances and spanners for the fire service on weekends.

Swap you the C4 Pubka for the S2000 on your garage page, if you like?

I don't think it's so bad.

It's a speculative request and he happy to remunerate.
As he said, you don't ask, you don't get.

I can't see it being that financially beneficial for all the hassle you'll have to go to but stranger things have happened.

Possibly I'm being a tad hyperbolic, but it's like asking "can I borrow someone's wife? Must be under 25, DD or above only and not a munter."

It's odd, it's unrealistic, and it's also choosy beggarism. If he wants it, he should earn it.

I'm going with "lied to someone now is in danger of getting caught". biggrin

Three of us were collected from our Christmas night out by a colleague's partner who had a puncture. Cue a 25mph drive out to the sticks where we all live and subsequently driving on the rim. Him- we'll drop it at yours and I'll take your car! He lives up a farm track and has a crazy neighbour who had already Nitromors-ed his car.yikes I politely declined and called them a taxi.
4 people in a car, none of whom can change a wheel; what are the odds?

Its also the specifying of the three German makes which amuses me.... I think it sort of sums up the kind of person he seems to be, impressed by those particular ones, but not apparently others, which certainly in my book would be far more desirable.

I know what you mean. A few years ago I went to a charity auction that a friend had organised and thought I would do a bit of shill bidding to help out. The auction started, first item on the docket: a weekend's use of a mint condition Triumph GT6. There was no way I was going to let someone else win that!

If they'd said "weekend's use of a BMW M4" my wallet wouldn't have taken a battering. A fine car, but it wouldn't impress me.

Three of whom were the worse for wear and all of whom had asked him to pull over and change the wheel. Once the sound of rim on road made an appearance the driver pulled over in the pissing rain in (barely) a farm access track only to find an empty spare wheel well. 330d, no idea if these usually come with a spare. Did have a foot pump though which he rather pointlessly used in an attempt to inflate the now smoking ruin of a tyre - then nearly drove off with it still connected to the the valve! "I'll take yours" ahem, I think not.
PS The crazy neighbour - we call him Foghorn Leghorn - subsequently liberally sprayed more Nitromors on the 330d AND the car of another colleague who was house sitting for the week!
