The rear looks like a melting Skoda, nice colour but that’s about it.

The colours brilliant. The styling is vile.

It's almost admirable how they've lost the art of good design and instead gone for shock value and brashness with this generation of cars.

And you know the rest of the range will be rubbish when they only trot out the top-of-the-range-with-all-the-extras at the reveal.
For once, I am going to kind of agree with this!!! But looking forwards to what the new M2 will look like... As that is what will interest me...

That initial image I thought yeah. Love the colour, the rear end just screams Giulia and then you see the side profile and those silver oversized triangles on the front bumper and meh! I think if it’s wasn’t so shiny the lines might actually look a bit more flowing than they do. Likewise if they rid it of that brushed silver trim on the front it might actually look better.

However like all recent BMW saloons and coupes I expect that it will be like marmite and after a while you’ll grow to like it or even love it.

Edit - is that a black lower sill on the sides? If so awful!

Rear end is awful. I thought the M4 grille was bad, but have warmed to it a bit, but that's just bad. Shame.

That is one of the ugliest cars I have ever seen. A total abomination from every angle. The rear end is especially awful. Total fail.

Even if it weighed 1000kg, did 60mpg and 200mph I still couldn’t buy one.

AWD and auto only? Shame. My decision to buy one of the last manual M140is looks better and better with every new model reveal.

That's harsh! I'm sure Ray Charles would have liked it.

Love the front, has an almost charger esque feel. Side profile I love as well.

But oh god the rear it is all out proportion!

OMG it is utterly vile, the worst offence against aesthetics that the world has ever witnessed, an abomination brought to us from the diseased mind of the horned beast of the netherworld, I would sooner have hot pins stuck in my eyes than subject them to this disgusting pile of automotive putrescence for one second longer, BMW's styling people should be hung drawn and quartered and their remains fed to the lowest, lice-ridden dog in a Calcutta slum. Oh and it's too heavy.

Right now that the obligatory response to any new BMW is out of the way, I can say that I really quite like it. Not in that colour as I'm not a swinger (yet), but the basic form is good - I'd happily have one.

Looks, particularly from the side and rear, really aren’t appealing in the slightest. Also seems like a shame that there isn’t any mention of a RWD, manual version - hopefully the M version will address this.

When is this due to be released? I had thought 2022 but had it been brought forward?

Love that colour. Wonder how many will be brave enough it tick that box. I would.

Front end is Ok by current standards but the rear end is awful. It’s like a Chinese knock of the Giulia that’s melted.

Side profile isn’t too bad, it’s a bit awkward but so is the outgoing F series.

It’s quite aggressive looking for for a none M car. The new M2 I fear will end up looking rather OTT.

It’s going to be very very fast despite being a bit of a chubbier. How are they making such fat cars?

Interior looks good and of the new 1/3 etc are anything to go but will be really good quality.

I’m not sure if it works like that. In fact I’m certain it doesn’t.

- clicks on the thread.

- wow, what a nice colour, and a relatively subtle grille as well. That doesn't look half bad.

- sees the second picture.

- oh, never mind.

So they've made the front end nit quite so bad and compensated by adding a droopy sided incoherent rear end with no poise and thats just plain ugly.

Looks like some sort of plastic toy. Oh well,I suppose their design workshops said the Chinese would love it...

Price doesn't look that bad given power etc., compared to other cars at least. Seems you need to be pushing a 6 figure salary to afford any nice car these days

The M Performance parts don’t help it all…

The side decals are particularly vile.

I think I can see what’s wrong with the shape. There's no definition to it - it looks like it’s been melted.

The best lines have a proper swage line - look at the door it’s too high which makes the door and the whole side look bloated and slab sided.

The front actually looks okay (bar the bizarre triangles), the rear is a mess.

I’m actually liking the new 4 Series more now.

Maybe that was BMWs dastardly plan….

Those that play on gaming consoles / PC doesn’t this remind you of one of those cars from GTA which is like a major brand but not the same and has odd styling and a strange colour 🤣😂
