RE: BMW confirms new 374hp M240i flagship
Discussion
It's not the greatest design, though suspect not as bad as some people here are making out when you see it in the flesh, but I think it is a very attractive proposition.
If you want a small yet practical 4 seat sports car at that price point with those, very impressive performance figures, what else is there ?

1765 kg EU weight. What a joke
That's heavy indeed when an original M2 is 1495 kg EU. But then again it's 4wd and auto which accouns for 100kg I assume. Where did you find the info about EU weight?
I still think it looks great despite the rear.

The colours brilliant. The styling is vile.
It's almost admirable how they've lost the art of good design and instead gone for shock value and brashness with this generation of cars.
And you know the rest of the range will be rubbish when they only trot out the top-of-the-range-with-all-the-extras at the reveal.
They've made it gopping. Seriously, wtf is going on at BMW's design department? They're churning out some horrifically ugly st at the moment. It's almost admirable how they've lost the art of good design and instead gone for shock value and brashness with this generation of cars.

I can't comment on the styling - recent BMW have looked awful in photos but then in the right colour and in the flesh I find them OK. I don't mind this so it may look great.
But
I have just come to the end of my 4 year PCP and elected to keep my current car, its all I need and want admittedly, but it is also manual and a bit raw and oozes a RWD character I like, while this is 4wd and auto and looks like it will power itself around with such utter competence that unless you are going at HUGE speed it will struggle to reward.
So the A45 AMG is generally going to be quicker than a manual M2 in an average drivers hands, and this will be too, but I do feel the M2 will give more 'pleasure'
(and older cars still have 'proper' instruments for old farts like me!)
Perhaps the M2 when it comes will answer the RWD manual question, but I feel I may have reached my automotive peak (and budget)

So many people complaining that it's AWD and auto. Well maybe if people had actually bought the RWD cars in manual, they might have continued.
Instead it's just the internet car people wailing that they want a manual, but only in 3yrs when it's depreciated. It doesn't work that way, fools.

Agree, market forces etc, but it's still a shame. Instead it's just the internet car people wailing that they want a manual, but only in 3yrs when it's depreciated. It doesn't work that way, fools.
