One must be prepared to dominate the stairs with one of these on the drive, I feel.
I know it’s Monday morning, and I’ve just left hospital, but I don’t understand this comment at all.
Is it something to do with a gym stepper machine or is the domination bit some sort of S&M thing when one gets ‘worked up’ over the drift mode?
Anyhoo I guess I’m getting old because wonderfully competent and fast as they maybe, I’d rather have the slower and analogue experience of my old original ur Quattro to one of these.
The designers seem like they are trying too hard to please, with things like the bumper treatments etc and for whatever reasons both this and the AMG45 leave me cold.
You had to be there.

Does it still have wider tyres on the front? That put me off the previous two versions as it was an admission that it was really a FWD car with a (laggy) Haldex clutch mechanism. Or does the new 4WD system allow them to fit same size tyres on all four corners?
Wider tyres on the front were an option on the 8V2 so not all cars have them. And the 8V1 was square 235s.

"...they do represent a useful saving over the '45 adversaries. The 421hp A45 S hatch starts from £56,595, though bizarrely the CLA is cheaper - at £52,495 it's actually perfectly pitched against the RS3 saloon"

A UK AMG A45s starts from £51,235, it's the A45s Plus that starts from £57,235.

As others have said, lots of FK8 Civic Type R in there but I am sure that because it is a 'premium' German brand, people will love it. Strange old world.

Well Audi have managed the near impossible, for a modern car release. They've managed to make a car that's hideous from just about all angles. Congrats!

I agree, although BMW have been doing a fair job of that too recently.

By shear coincidence, the article for the new RS3 was right above an article for the Hyundai i30 with new DCT gearbox.

The two cars look virtually identical to one another. If they were painted the same colours, you'd be hard pressed to tell them apart.

What has happened to individuality in car design???

Nope my PFL RS3 had wider fronts as an option.

Very aggressive styling, gone are the days of a subtle RS model.

I'm a big fan.

What's the opposite of a Grower?

On first glance, I thought; that's got some understated purpose to it. But as I look more and more, it looks like a Jelly mould because it gets wider at the lowest point of the body. Plus its not understated at all, its over styled.
Particular on the lighter coloured green jobby the grille makes it look more growler than grower...

I guess the next version will get the Civic rear as well.

Looks amazing. I've just purchased an A5 - moved to mercades for a while but i think once you have quattro, its hard to go back

The amount and number of fake vents is truly disturbing.

400bhp in a hatchback production car, how times have changed. For me, I think they got carried away styling the front of it, apart from the front of the car I quite like it overall.

no more power? presumably more weight too, so basically it's about the interior differences?

Wheels on the hatch have a look of TWR Venoms about them. I don’t say that as a positive thing either, although maybe apt for the look of the thing.

Not my cup of tea, but it's not bad for a rebodied Evora.

On a less frivolous note, it does show what good value the Emira is at 60k when one of these will be close to that with a few options.

I reckon these will do over list for the first few months and then settle down. Saloon is a good looking little car, get a slight DTM vibe.

Saloon is better looking than the hatch again.

They are quite fussy though. The rear bumper detail with the pointless fake mesh is particularly naff.

I still can’t get on with the interior styling of this A3; the drivers side air vents look really odd to me. I wonder if they’ll lift interior material quality a bit for this? Volkswizard seemed pretty disappointed when he compare an S3 to an M135i. If it missed the mark at £35k, it’ll be far worse at £50 plus.

It’ll no doubt be sodding fast. I like the green though, that an ace colour.
