Great as this is, one point on these cars though is they look absolutely mint/fully restored etc.
Shouldn't they be well used but still smoking and with battle scars as its obvious lots of these are concours & probably live in a de humidified garage just like a freshly bought GT3RS…..

Flew down for the weekend to go to this show (and Coventry Transport Museum on the Sunday)
Great day out. Cars you won't see anywhere else.
Spotted Sarah (Bangers and Cash) and Steve Parrish in the crowd.
We bumped into Paul Cowland having a wander around. Lovely bloke who had quite a chat with my buddy about Jags and Saabs. Great day out. Cars you won't see anywhere else.

Was lovely to meet you Paul if you're reading this.
I well remember sticking the "Graduate" stripes onto early 106s like the one pictured. There were side stripes, 3 coloured bars for the leading edge of the bonnet and some stripes for the hubcaps. Most people preferred to have them all left off.
Would have gone to this if I wasn't in Croatia, where there are many examples of old Renaults in daily use, as well as a lot of well-preserved but daily-driven Mk1 Golfs (mostly diesels). Disappointingly few Soviet-era Zastavas and Yugos, though.

He comes across like that on TV so good to hear that he is the same in real life. Was lovely to meet you Paul if you're reading this.
He was actually one of the judges at the show.
Finally made to the show and really enjoyed the cars. If you're thinking of going to next year's it might be worth contacting the organisers beforehand to see if they are going to provide more than four loos for the "thousands" of visitors, so you can come equipped with plastic bottles if necessary. Also to find out how early you can get there to avoid long queues for entry caused by the numpties running the car parks.

Toyota Tercel! Completely forgotten about that bland little car.
Wouldn't say no to that Citroen CS Club though, lovely
Thank you - the GS is mine. That is my left knee poking out from the passenger seat. My best mate Paul is the handsome chap standing up. Wouldn't say no to that Citroen CS Club though, lovely
Brilliant show. I have never been to a show where all attendees were so willing to talk about their or my car. Really knowledgeable too.

The demand for an event for unexceptional old cars still used as dailies would be somewhat slim, a niche within a niche! Most of those are (in my experience) owned by old folk who have had it since forever, pop to Tesco once a week and will die with it still in their garage. Unlikely to sign up for a car show...Shouldn't they be well used but still smoking and with battle scars as its obvious lots of these are concours & probably live in a de humidified garage just like a freshly bought GT3RS…..
Something like a Castle Combe Action Day is closer to what you're thinking, although that's obviously heavily slanted towards performance variants.

You have no motoring soul. None.
Get ye to the hills and hide in a pond.
Least the God of Mundane and Uninteresting motoring smites you with a 1 and 3/4 inch Stromberg carb wrapped in a tartan blanket.

Followed this on Twitter and everyone seemed to have a great time. Wanted to attend this year but sold out, def. getting an early bird ticket next year,

I cannot think of any car show I'd be less interested in
I'm definitely in this camp too. I wouldn't have looked twice/been interested in these cars when they were new, so they certainly don't interest me very much now. I've always much preferred the higher spec/bigger engined cars than these to be fair. However from a nostalgia point of view it is very nice to see stuff like this being really well looked after/kept on the road though.

Serious question, commented on your friend standing next to the car, I take it that it IS a wig and he was wearing period-correct cardigan, stay-prest trousers and a crimpelene shirt?Brilliant show. Top effort by the way! I’d love a GS to leave at my (to be purchased) villa in SE France and to use when we fly in.
I love stuff like this. It goes to prove you can get involved in car communities without spending a fortune and that motoring joy can come from anywhere.
Some of my most memorable early driving experiences came from driving base model 1980s cars like my Fiesta Popular Plus and Peugeot 309.There are plenty of cars in those photos that I remember seeing around every day and it's great that there are people keeping these cars going.

That is the whole point. Cars that were dreadful, but someone has made the effort to keep them alive for some reason, so should be celebrated.I'd probably crack a smile at a fond (or not so fond) memory of more of the cars at the FotU than a field full of modern supercars.

It did bring a very fond memory of my Skoda Estelle when I saw that Skoda in the pictures to be fair. I'd probably crack a smile at a fond (or not so fond) memory of more of the cars at the FotU than a field full of modern supercars.
That Nissan Bluebird also brought a good memory back too because my Mum's boyfriend at the time had one(back in 86/87 iirc).
Modern supercars don't do a lot for me either...but that's probably because I can't afford one!
