Not ph worthy.

Eysores all over Europe for 20 years now.

We were all good when Ford had killed off the Granada and Opel/Vauxhall their cheap fake wood, fake bling "near luxury" offerings.
Well, someone in VAG spotted a market there, and was right.

Will in turn be superseded by an until now unbeknown chinese barge bage, that will offer the same without the diesel sod, clogged filters and shot gearboxes.
Prefarably electric. Might have a key USP, that until now only Rolls Royce offers. A free umbrella? No. Perhaps silicone filled rims for "absolute" tranquil. Or a noise cancelling system for the always nagging spouse?

Let's ask shed for his suggestions. He will get one of them in 2035, anyways...

To all the Superb drivers out there: Start using your rearview mirror. You paid for it and seem to have stuck your views into that direction, anyways...
Did she leave you for a Skoda salesman?

A Tesco Value Car.

I've never owned one, but I've spent plenty of time in taxis and they never fail to amaze me how plain they can make a car.

We have a 2014 Superb estate; it has done 246k miles and was previously my dad's and he is a taxi driver hence the mega mileage. Unfortunately he chose the Greenline edition which has a rather underpowered engine and therefore isn't exactly a joy to drive. Obviously the load carrying ability is amazing, went to Ikea the other day and was putting stuff on the flat bed trolley and thinking to myself "This will never fit in the car" - got back to the Skoda and it swallowed everything. If you're looking for a massive car with nice comfy seats and good fuel economy look no further.

She was a Skoda saleswoman I think.

I've had my 2018 L&K hatch 280 4x4 for almost a year, it's quick, subtle and handles okay with the standard adjustable dampers.

The interior is massive and the quality is pretty good for a supposed budget brand. Certainly better than other mainstream manufacturers.

Glad I managed to get one before the market went crazy.

I challenge you to sit in a Fiat Tipo at some point in your life if you want to experience abject misery on wheels.

Had a 2016 sportline that I took to 400hp (399 technically but 400 sounds better!). It was the perfect "Q car" and surprised everyone I took out in it.

The local garage thought I was mad when I turned up in a Skoda estate with a boot full of Golf R parts and asked them to bolt them on. But they did, all the bolt holes were identical to those found under the bonnet of a golf R.

I like these.
Shortly moving to Australia, so will be selling my C43 AMG wagon. Replacing it like-for-like is not financially viable (+50% of the cost down there), so definitely considering a 280 Sport Estate.
As the kids get bigger, the C-Class isn't cutting it space-wise, so trading up a class size, albeit down in luxury/brand, seems to make sense.

We had a 1.9 PD 130 Superb saloon as a pool car where I worked in the early naughties.

We had a Focus, a 190 Celica, a Saab turbo and a few other bits. The Superb was head and shoulders above the rest.

My first ever speeding ticket was in one. 77 in a 50 for three points.

A bad analogy.

I wouldn't touch tescos value food.

Superbs are classy. Much more so than a Passat.

I've got a Mk3 Octavia vRS. Very, very tempted to replace it with a Superb.

In the real world the boot space isn't that much bigger. More room in the cabin, but given my kid is -4 months old so far (due in Jan) that's not a huge worry yet.

I just like the idea of a comfy barge that'll still do a decent 0-60 these days as I'm approaching 40!

As you are moving to a land where proper engines are relatively commonplace, can I ask why you wouldn't get yourself a V8 Ford or Holden? Or does it have to be a new car?

They weren't part of the VAG marketing budget.

The vRS will be fine as a family wagon. Mine dealt with everything chucked at (and in it) for four years.

I've had my estate version since June last year.
Only the diesel 150 bhp version, but 4wd.
30 quid a year to tax. Regulary get 55 plus to the gallon. Comfortable for a long journey. Quiet. Plenty of room. Nothing gone wrong for the last 20,000 miles. Perfect for what it was bought for.

Yeah - especially given it's an estate.

But...bigger, more power, 4wd...

Always liked these and big respect to Skoda for reaching into that territory, and excelling.

My old work colleague had a 2011 Superb Estate, and I remember how huge it was and the amount of legroom on offer was more than anything else on the market. It drove really smoothly and was brilliant on fuel.

Thing is both the Vauxhall and Avensis in their own way are highly reliable Hugh mileage machines.

Yet deeply deeply unpopular to the brand tarts in the UK.

I'll be honest I'd own a Insignia for 90% of my needs.

I've owned the Avensis. Especially the 08 one was massively solid and dependable. I kinda miss it.
