And not much less likely to happen on a new-un.
My Mrs put a dent in our Mazda 5 the other day. I was still a bit peeved - I would prefer not to have a dent. But now she has a car with a dent.
She summed it up well enough "this is why I'm not allowed nice things". She does trust that if I say it's OK to drive, it is OK, even if clonky or whatever, though. And if I'm wrong, I fix it.
This is definitely THE Joy: she now HAS to take care of the car because she knows that the car value is too little for you to be bothered fixing it! So if she is not taking care of it, she will end up driving a car full of dent and bumps, which she doesn't want My Mrs put a dent in our Mazda 5 the other day. I now only have an exhaust to fit to a C1, which is unlikely to break the bank, or my spirit.
The C107 I am personally running about has now done 250 odd miles on half a tank of fuel, which cost me a grand total of £52, so I'm thinking that is pretty frugal, even by current fuel prices.

I love all the shed love and tips that are shared on here - please keep the stories coming.
Appreciate any knowledge on the following - I've grown to love the 3 cylinder Peugeot 107 in our fleet, however it does get through a lot of oil. I regularly need to top it up - as I naturally check it regularly it only needs a bit each time, however totting it up it is probably somewhere approaching 1litre every 1k mls.
Fuel economy is good, there is no sign of smoke on start-up or whilst running, zero drips, plugs and air filter look clean, and emissions at MOT time are spot-on - therefore I'm presuming that it is burning oil.
Does anyone else have this on their engines? Are these engines prone to this? And what could it be other than worn piston ring? Whilst I normally try to repair anything wrong, I don't know what it is, and engine rebuild would be beyond my skill-set or expensive (I presume).
2008 petrol owned from 1k mls, now over 100k mls and other than regular servicing has only needed the odd replacement part. Very regular oil and filter changes (typically every 8k mls) , does more long runs that short runs - although maybe it's long motorway runs that have caused the oil burning issue?
Anyone knowledgeable with these engines that can advise - thanks.

I have 5 (?) maybe more, they don't stay still long enough to count. All use oil. I suppose about 1/4 to 1/2 a litre every 1000 miles or so at a very rough guess. Don't rebuild the engine, they are not worth it. For some reason Jap engines never seem to respond well to a rebuild.I love all the shed love and tips that are shared on here - please keep the stories coming.

My youngest is on about 90k miles, and the oldest about 175, and there doesn't seem to be much difference in oil consumption between them. Don't worry would be my take.

Just knowing that 'all 5 use oil' is reassuring. My MOT chap also advises to just carry-on.
And I love that you don't know exactly how many you have! Despite having only a small lawn I have a similar affliction with lawnmowers - I think I have 5.5- ish.

Anyway, if someone would like to suggest a name for a new business renting sheds, I'm all ears. You lot are normally pretty witty, well observed and clever, so that should be interesting.
Just noticed the ask above - "Cost Conscious Cars" or "Happy Hires"?C-J said:

I used to like the odd lawnmower, but just on the "main" one these days. There's something nice about a bit of rudimentary petrol powered enginering. And they're not quite as pernickety as small outboards either with their needle roller bearings (I have a couple of them).Just knowing that 'all 5 use oil' is reassuring. I was also thinking of something completely off the wall.
Academical Goldfish
Green Pony.
Joy Wheels.
Heaven Engine. (could sound like a vibrator I suppose)
Running Dog.
Car Sauce.
That type of thing (maybe overboard on the animal theme?)
Can't be any worse than Cinch, Car Wow or all the rest of them.

"Monthly Motors"
No no no. Absolutely no.That's what the "other" people do, and if you call yourself that then you'll have hordes of the Chavarati wearing fake Rolexes and five grands worth of teeth rocking up to see how much Ahdi, Murk or Beemah they can blag for £299 a month.
That won't do at all.

I think to be called joy wheels, you would have to operate out of the most dilapidated and run down unit you can find, ideally with your office being an old static caravan that the chassic has collapsed on and a massive muddy puddle right under the door. With permanent grey overcast drizzle.Joy Wheels.
