OK let me start by saying I'm quite a relaxed person, so these issues don't have me flayling my arms around like a lunatic or climbing out the car with an angry face but they do make my teeth itch a little.

Aside from the standard MLM's, 40mph club, tailgaters etc what other little driving irritations do we share? One which has recently started to wind me up is when people kindly let you in / out of a side street by simply pulling to a halt and waiting. What is wrong with the little light flash that we all recognise as a sign for 'off you go sir'? I find that people actually acting in a kind way is beginning to wind me up. I don't know why you're stopping, are you breaking down? Is there a cat in the road? Just flash your lights FFS!

Another is one which I have noticed since changing my car to an S5. Nice A road, come across a car doing 40mph, overtake. Suddenly said car is triggered into thinking I am trying to race and charges up behind proving he can match my pace. No, I just wanted to do 60 and you were 20mph under this so I went past you. Don't change your driving just 'as you were!'.

Annoying me lately is people waiting to join a road from a side road etc, you slow and give them a signal to let them out, but for some reason they aren't in fact ready to go. Sometimes they are inexplicably staring the other way at the car coming from the other direction which is miles away. I have seen people position their cars on petrol station forecourt exits which appears very much that they are intending to leave but they're just sat there doing something else, phone etc. Or they're just generally incredibly slow and ponderous, and they don't go thinking the gap isn't big enough when it very certainly is by the standards of 99% of people.

That's precisely why I very rarely let people out. It can be dangerous, especially when the idiot then pulls out in front of you across the other lane of traffic - they interpret your flash as "you're good to go," rather than, "I'm letting you out, but you still have to think for yourself."

At the moment, it’s people who forget they are in a queue of cars waiting for the lights to change and not lolling on the sofa at home leisurely reading their social media.

Unless you're in a line of very slow moving traffic, why the fk are you doing this? There are lines across their lane for a reason. Take your priority and leave them to deal with getting out of the side road. I bet you don't check your mirror for bikers when you let them out either, do you?

On a similar vein, I hate it when you are driving on a fairly busy town road and someone takes it upon themselves to do their good deed for the day and slam their brakes on to almost a complete stop in order to let someone out of a junction instead of just following the right of way rules. My home town is really bad for this. I end up braking behind them and the traffic behind me concertinas into brace of near misses. JUST KEEP DRIVING AT 30 AND THEY WILL BE ABLE TO PULL OUT WHEN IT'S CLEAR FFS!

Hmm. I only let people out when I'm in a line of slow moving traffic, having nearly had an accident when an over-polite person stopped dead suddenly from 30 mph on a main road to let someone out of their drive.

Phantom braking - i.e. braking for no readily apparent reason. I say this because I had to follow my father-in-law for 20 miles or so yesterday. On a straight, wide, well-sighted bit of A-road road with virtually no traffic, no junctions, no rain, no nothing, and with him at no point exceeding the speed limit, he'd brake a couple of times every minute for no reason at all. Not always a little dab either, often enough that I - having learnt to leave a very big gap to cater for this strange behaviour - had to brake too. When I'm a passenger with him after a few miles I'm virtually chewing the interior fittings with frustration - it's just so weird.

Those idiots who neither indicate nor choose a lane at a roundabout - dotted line perfectly between the wheels “will I go left or right…must hedge my bets- sit in the middle of this very wide lane”
Although this does at least indicate they are st drivers and care should be taken around them. This is preferable to the idiots who veer into the other lane on a roundabout as they take the direct line…

1. People who pull out in front of you when the gap is clearly not big enough (making you brake) and then proceed to drive at 20mph below the limit - extra points given when there is absolutely nobody behind you and they could have just waited a few extra seconds.

2. Similar to the phantom braking above, people who brake whenever a car comes past the other way, even on roads wide enough for three cars. Seems to happen especially at night - nervous driver I guess?

Whut? By your diktat no-one would get let out of side roads ever, and surely its the 'bikers' responsibility to see what is happening in front of them?

1. People entering a roundabout to go straight ahead. They indicate to turn right, and after exit 1, indicate to go left!!!!!

2. People turning out of a side road, where they know they will swing out into the opposite lane and yet still do it right in front of you causing you to take emergency actions so so you smash into them.

People not indicating to leave roundabouts!

It's so common that virtually everyone will emerge with vehicles still indicating to keep coming around, I feel like I'm the odd one out. I refuse to risk my NCB for a few seconds gain because some idiot doesn't know the orange light lever goes the other way. The people blindly queueing behind me don't appreciate it either as to the average half-wit it looks as if I'm asleep at the wheel and missing gaps.

I do feel validated when someone does come all the way around and although I'm just driving normally I feel like a driving god for predicting it.

People entering roundabouts in the left lane and driving in a straight line crossing into the middle lane and cutting you up, then back to the left lane when going straight on, totally blinkered morons!!

It takes any doubt out, of if they were going to turn left or not, I guess.
