Thanks for the good wishes above, and sorry to hear of your situation R50.

I seem to be on the mend, slowly enough but in the right direction.

How much do we think this is going to go for? Perhaps answer in multiples of £1,200. The dealer seller is asking £16,995 elsewhere which seems a tad optimistic but my-oh-my what a beautiful car. I really fancy it. Incredibly rare "SEC-style" seating, a £1,987.76 option back in the day. Bagsy first dibs.

Phwoar. Big fan.

I wonder if these will end up as expensive as older Merc barges? Or will they be outlawed by that point?
What a macheeen!

But not at 20 grand f f s.

I’ll take the 1 and a half bag 3litre Mondeo, please.

@Emeye, with you posting the red R129 the other day, I’m not far from you (Rochdale), so if you want a go/look in SL1, etc, you’re more than welcome to, just let me know… (mini meet!)
Yes I'd be well up for that - maybe I could bring CdG's SLC for comparison, as the way our half arsed, time limitedconcerted attempts at selling it are going, it could be here for a while, though ideally it needs to be living in a garage as the weather is turning up 'ere int Pennines.

@r129sl - happy to meet you half way between Manchester and the North East if you want to tempt yourself? Or come to our North West mini-meet to see it, though Rochdale is more 1/5th or less of the way...

It's great to see people being open and talking about mental health and loss. Probably a good forum for it in a strange way. Us blokes (because from the barge meets we are overwhelmingly blokes) are often rubbish at talking about stuff.

I once went through a very bad period and largely dealt with it alone. A few years later I talked about it to my best friend and he said "why the hell didn't you talk to me about it???" - at the time I just went into myself and didn't even think of 'bothering' anyone else. So silly looking at things after the event!
This is what I meant about being faceless it's often easier to say things to people you don't know in the real world because men over a certain age, Which let's face it most of us are have had it drummed it to us to man up and get on with it so don't want to appear weak/soft call it what you want in front of mates sadly

Yes it was rejn's, they were initially after a profit, but at £7k it's now significantly cheaper than the near £8.5k it made on Collectingcars

The 190 has been looked at by a new The Man at a local merc specialist that I had not visited before.

A reassuring collection of vehicles outside, including a lovely AMG kitted W124 in mint condition, an r129500SL, and various AMG mercs as well as more ordinary stuff.

It needs a new diff (you can move the propshaft going into it, hence the clunk), distributer cap, rotor arm, and king lead.

No idea how to source the diff...!

I think I've just put up with things the way they've been for so long, the past being the big one, bullying through school then mental torture from your dad when you get home is not fun and fks you up a little...

Anyway, recently, what hit me was losing my partner, we were both absolutely besotted with each other, but I guess I was too much for her to deal with - that and being made redundant had me clinging on for life by a fingernail, I'll say that much. Anyway, I'm currently on the waiting list with 4 separate companies, so hopefully I'll get somewhere! Also, not that I expect her to be alone forever, nor do I want that, but I realise I was clinging on to this false hope of getting back together, when I saw the other week, she's found someone new, that pushed me right back to the brink - she was definitely the best thing to have happened to me and I still adore her - but there we go, I'll not go on any more and shall resume normal broken stereo/car service shortly. smile
I'm sorry to hear this, hopefully spending ages fixing a radio can take your mind off things smile
Only in this thread would a comforting arm around the shoulder met with a corresponding knee to the stones be met with a seal of approval. Tres magnifique! biglaugh

It even has the trip computer in the dash. Very rare option.

I'm getting excited this better be a v12 or you could be getting stoned (not in the good way) at the next barge meet smile

I'm in that same ship - I think I've figured out that I could not now afford any of the cars I have bought and now still have, including the 39 year old 635CSi that I bought about 25 years ago for £3k.

It might not be as hard as you think.

{pause for fnarr}

I'd start haunting eBay & FB for one. Try to get the part number, but also look for people breaking other 190s (which sounds unlikely, but it's certainly the case for 124s). It took me a couple of months, but I ended up with two for my 124, which has a limited population (fitted only to the late 300 diesels, and a different ratio for saloon vs estate)

Who needs a 2.5, when you can have the mighty 3 litre?
This one comes in rare non-ST spec....the rather/relatively pleasant Titanium X. Its a manual as I'm pretty sure you couldn't get the 3 litre with an auto box. It sneaks into the low tax too.

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202110198...

It's £1500 with a years MOT...and the MOT history looks surprisingly good.
This looks like a relative bargain.

Was this the sort of stuff you were after Cappo? wink
I bought an oil burning version 3 years ago, done 20K miles in it so far. They're a good drive, comfortable, nothing wrong with them at all. Even though I'm currently facing a fuelling issue I want to keep it going and am happy to spend a bit to see if I can fix it. (Think it's just a couple of injectors).

If it wasn't for my fuel economy being cut in half I would be all over that !!

(Being a complete Ford virgin up to the point of purchase - I thought my Ghia version was top of the range. I realised a bit later it seems to be the next model up from the 'L' model.)

The Titanium X is stuff only dreams are made of..........

Thanks! Gives me hope!

The Man suggested that the diffs are the same between 4 cylinder and 6 cylinder autos, but different for manual. Can anyone confirm?

Also if you get a breakers one, how do you know if it’s any good?!
