I had a 2.0 Manuel. It was not un economical. You could not really expect much from an engine made in the nineties. It is actually an American model and was built there. It felt rather tired at 150k so got rid for £230 around 5 years ago. Beong advertised as family car with 2 doors and coupé, seriously?
£230 is not far off the deposit I've just put on the black 2.0 autoManfredvonRichthofen said:
I love this
Dealer was looking for £22,500 for it. Sold at ACA auction in 2020 for £10k. Now up for auction

Apologies - I realise it’s not Friday

According to stickleback, these bummed the reputation of Jag to death, which seems a firm bar for acceptance within the barge thread.
I reckon a cheap, working 2.5 or 3.0L 4WD V6 version might make a decent winter snotter with winter tyres on it. Otherwise, bummed.ETA - it seems they did, and this was the predecessor of the drivetrain for the X-type

Current inflated AutoTrader prices; are cars selling at these prices?
The reason I ask is that this car here - https://forums.mbclub.co.uk/threads/cl500-2005.278... - sold for 3.5k, which appears a bargain given the mileage/year/service history compared to the cars I can see on AT - yet required a price drop to sell.

I remember an old school friend coming round to proudly show me his new S Type some years ago, we went out in it and I said "hmm, not bad these Mondeos, are they?". He wasn't impressed! (I know the S is not a Mondeo, but still worth ribbing!).

That's a nice looking thing, totally anonymous.
There's a V6 one on eBay as well - sadly it's silver, but otherwise looks pretty good... Although the seller's claim that it's "stunning" is perhaps a reach: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/324852527360
Aren't these that thirsty that you may as well go all in and get a fully loaded legend if you want a Honda? There's a V6 one on eBay as well - sadly it's silver, but otherwise looks pretty good... Look at fuel prices and ask yourself who wants a 5ltr+ car at the moment in fact any 3ltr+ car, Then add in complicated suspension which has tons of Internet horror stories most of which have relatively cheap fixes now and you have your answer, Just get one you'll love it or wait 6 mths until I get bored and want a smaller car and a motorbike again The reason I ask is that this car here - https://forums.mbclub.co.uk/threads/cl500-2005.278... - sold for 3.5k, which appears a bargain given the mileage/year/service history compared to the cars I can see on AT - yet required a price drop to sell.

If I could get a nice looking one with decent history for 3.5k a la that ad I'd be in. Ropey looking one at 5/6k is less appealing ...Cascade360 said:

5/6k I'd be wanting a decent one are you on any of the owners pages/club sites?
I joined the FB page this morning but it doesn't look likely the place to find a decent car. will keep an eye on the MB UK classifieds ...ian316 said:
I've just had a quick look on gumtree there are a few on there under 4k with supposed fsh a really nice blue one in Whitechapel, I just put in mercedes cl500 and left the search on national
The W reg one? Think i need a bit later to be ulez compliant. Also does the general rule of dont buy a pre 2003 MB due to corrosion issues apply to these?Cascade360 said:

I thought they'd all be EU4, but apparently you need a post-October 2002 car
What actually changed? At the very least it looks like the exhaust systems are different, I'm seeing four different verisons for EU spec cars;
upto june 2000 cars
from July 2000 to sept 2002 (facelift)
I'm then showing one for cars sept 2002 onwards, but also a separate one entirely for Code 926/EU4 cars... And this is just the different options for exhaust down pipes
I'm guessing in reality most if not all cars after the facelift have the 926/EU4 code (merc claimed in their marketing materials that all facelift 215 engines were EU4 complaint). There is a chance some cars may have come with might have come before the facelift but you'd need to check the chassis number against the build sheet codes to apply to get ULEZ exemption if that was the case.

I know that even by barge standards these have the potential for big bills, but they do seem to offer an awful lot for the money.

If you could get rid of the drug dealer tints that would be a fabulous looking thing. Are they so expensive to run in V8 form? Not the W12 nightmare.https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/133920593530?hash=item1...
