Get back quickly: I got paid for a big job yesterday and it is burning a hole... but the VAT is due in a fortnight.
Fancy an SLC? r129sl said:
How much do we think this is going to go for? Perhaps answer in multiples of £1,200. The dealer seller is asking £16,995 elsewhere which seems a tad optimistic but my-oh-my what a beautiful car. I really fancy it. Incredibly rare "SEC-style" seating, a £1,987.76 option back in the day. Bagsy first dibs.

I wonder if these will end up as expensive as older Merc barges? Or will they be outlawed by that point?
Checking in, whatever that means. Who would have thought threadists have a penchant for expensive cats? And not the ones with superchargers? Being tight wads, we were made up when the accountant said we could run two cats through the business. Pest control innit. They are tax efficient tabbies. Of course they have needed nothing more than a bit of fuel, just like the LS400 they use to sleep under and cock a leg against most days.

Fancy an SLC? Checking in. I'm hopefully barge purchasing on Saturday. Was going to be a CLK..or a W124 not so sure now. I'm thinking about revisiting an X350 XJ6..
I've been very quiet the past few months on here. Work issues, a somewhat unnerving and upward battle with my mental health that seems to be on the mend now, and generally a rubbish time had meant I kept away from PH and limited myself from social media. Work situation much better now and I feel good, I'm sure a barge will cheer me up even more! Looking forward to getting stuck into the thread. And the next meet wherever that may be if anywhere down south, I'm in

If alec.e still has his xj6 that's quite tidy and very clean I've been very quiet the past few months on here. Was it Macron who was after a Mondeo?
Who needs a 2.5, when you can have the mighty 3 litre?
This one comes in rare non-ST spec....the rather/relatively pleasant Titanium X. Its a manual as I'm pretty sure you couldn't get the 3 litre with an auto box. It sneaks into the low tax too.

It's £1500 with a years MOT...and the MOT history looks surprisingly good.
This looks like a relative bargain.
Was this the sort of stuff you were after Cappo?

It will all be better soon CAPP0.
Anyone know anything about these old A6's with the 3.2 V6? Same engine as Golf R32/ every other vag product at the time?! There are a fair few around and all seem to have had work done, but they are getting on a bit I suppose... 2750 for this one, dire pics, cheaper ones are available.

Obvs there are some S6's around, most look proper shagged though.

Poetic but we need pictures. The car you have already got is always the cheapest car. Far better to spend money getting it back to perfect than to spend money a new used car and then spend even more money getting that one back to perfect. Anyway, nothing is ever going to be better than an E39 Alpina B10 V8 Touring. Why even bother looking?
On a point of information, the insurance renewal for the G-wagen and w124 are coming up soon. The broker who I have used for 15 years wants £695.72 and £422.09 respectively. I am a 45 year old, married father of two; a lawyer; a part-time judge; I have never made an insurance claim in my entire life; we life in the past where crime does not exist; I have 3 points for speeding. This all struck me as absurd so I did that incredibly tedious things and spent 1hr37 minutes on the phone to a Canadian chap who was so nice that had he been a Canadian lady I would have been planning an extended holiday in Canada; he worked for Admiral and his cost for slightly better cover was £302.40 and £111.22. He can insure the 190 for £164.92 and the SL for the comedic price of £82.39. All in all, I reckon I have saved £1,200 on insurance over the next year, which saving I will now spend four times over on total st that I do not need.
I can certainly concur with the incredible prices Admiral offer - I was just over £100 for the V70 and astonished that the E63 was a mere £265 (less than one rear tyre!).On a point of information, the insurance renewal for the G-wagen and w124 are coming up soon. I’ve a similar profile to yourself so that may be a factor but definitely worth considering whatever car you may be running as I’ve not found comparable insurance anywhere near their prices.

The Mondeo is a good steer and quite underrated. As has been said before, if it had a German badge we’d go weak at the knees on here for them.Who needs a 2.5, when you can have the mighty 3 litre?

All I know is that it is not the same engine as a Golf R32. VAG seemed to run two platforms for a long while, the VR6-based one with a transverse narrow-angle (15deg) V6 (Golf R32, Passat R36, Porsche Cayenne, VW Phaeton, Skoda Superb, Audi TT), and the regular V6-based one with a longitudinal 90deg V6 (Audi A4, A5 and A6).r129sl said:

Just like me, that's cheap and scruffy Tat aside, and there's a lot of it, I did once fancy doing something to the 2.5T like this fine owner has which, given their obvious inability to breathe through their nose is quite impressive.
Around 360bhp here probably, which is probably not what you'd expect. It's not classy mind. Grille back to standard, whatever is on the lights off, sort the wheels, and could be quite good fun. Baseball caps all round!
