I seen that on the news earlier and my first thought was, what a complete and utter idiot hitting the water at that speed. rolleyes
These drivers seem to think they are invincible, and that one just got very lucky.
I thought that was pretty impressive. Didn't expect it to make it out the other side.
For a minute there, thought they would have to call out the RNLI.

Neither did I, but It was definitely luck more than any skill involved.
Like I said the giveaway clue was in the speed they hit the water at.

Me too! If only because once I'd recovered from the incredible stupidity I couldn't look away from the impending disaster/humiliation. I wonder if the driver kept the revs up or if the little Hyundai has an impressive anti-stall system.

Even more impressive if the carpets are still dry...

My parents had a previous generation one which I borrowed once, then got stuck in a snow storm on the M1. When the traffic finally started moving it was only me and Landover making progress in the outside lane. Those narrow wheels were brilliant at finding traction in the snow.

Appalling car in all other situations. They got it on the scrappage scheme.

That was... Unusual!

I bothered with about a minute of the rest of it and it reinforced my view that the majority of problems we see on US DC videos are caused by someone who has priority failing to actually look around, coming into contact with someone who is on their phone/meth. Yeah, technically you are in the right and the other driver is definitely in the wrong but if you had looked then you would have thought "oh crap" and avoided the crash.

Then there are the less common videos where the driver clearly knew they would have a crash but decided to do nothing because it was the other guy's fault, or there was that most barbaric, most heinous sort of criminal... A jaywalker.

Now, I have driven a fair few miles in the US and never witnessed these sorts of easily avoidable collisions. I've witnessed drivers actively avoiding a collision, so I wouldn't tar all American drivers with the same brush but the above does seem to be peculiar to the US.

Sometimes there is even a Ford approaching a big crowd before entering the crowd.

Sometimes there's even a Ford that fords!

And, in Norway, there's Fords that ford in the fjords.

That last one was the cammer looking for an accident. You could see the other car wasn't slowing to stop. Crash only happened because they accelerated into them.

Beat me to it, blatently obvious it isnt going to stop, as I always say, anticipation and observation.

As my military instructor many moons ago said "Treat every other vehicle on the road as being driven by a bloody idiot".

Truly terrible close passes on Anonymous the cyclist there. Especially the big truck. And people wonder why some cyclists become so bad tempered and aggressive. Too many near death experiences do not help anyone keep a zen like calm on the road.

Leanne K @ 2.50 or so - irritating, undoubtedly, but if she was looking further than the edge of her bonnet she could have overtaken that without breaking stride.

After I figured out which of the 2 recently posted videos you were referring to...I found that you had the wrong name and the wrong time ("2.50 or so" just doesnt cut it). biggrin

Certainly seems like it.
The guy in the Mercedes ML does an emergency stop when he had a green light for his lane, then the cam car is forced to brake hard and gets rear ended. Meawhile the light had changed to red.
The incompetent Mercedes driver instigated that series of events. mad
