I’ve tried watching it three times, but keep nodding off.

Christ that blokes boring
He's making a video about adjusting mirrors. It was hardly going to be a thrilling tale of adventure. biglaugh

Has this channel ever come up on these threads? UK Moto Clips. All bikers and lots of near misses/crashes, an absolute tonne of "nearly nothings", accelerating at hazards and overreacting to minor inconveniences. Seems to have a considerable amount of bikers speeding and driving like plebs. Channel owner puts his own, seemingly level-headed, comments on screen too.

have just seen this video and I immediately thought of your post and the conversation we had.
You will have your mirrors set the same as me and the majority here, but if set like in the video you would have seen the car to your left.

It has never been a problem to me in the past but I intend to try this set up. smile

Thank you for that, only point I would make, not saying he isn't wrong, you will see more, but makes revesing a bit difficult when I have always revesed by mirrors, as the yanks all seem to drive in, it probably isnt a problem for them, did you it and what do you think?

Yeah can’t believe you would drive off with pedestrians and street furniture down

Yes for reversing the mirrors would need to be adjusted, and on my previous car when reverse was engaged and the mirror control set to nearside it would automatically angle down and in to show where the rear wheel was, then return to original position when reverse was disengaged. I found this very helpful and removed any potential for kerbing an alloy.
This when used in conjunction with a wide angle rear view camera makes pretty much any reversing manoueuvre a piece of cake.
No I haven't tried it yet, I only just seen that video this morning.
I imagine it will take a bit of getting used to though.

Do tell your findings, the incident I mentioned is as far as I can recall the only one of that type in over 50 years of happy motoring, I think changing my mirrors now would be sort of odd, but be interested in what you find.

I googled about mirrors, and some agree with what you found others differ, including our Mr.Ashley Neal. Oh and my sons Audi EV dips the mirror for reversing, very handy.

We've had a few of that channel's videos, but tbh it's of limited interest - as you've pointed out most of it is invented rubbish from hot-headed idiots.

Who’s at fault in the first clip? The driver cutting in a gap that’s non existent or whoever drives into the back of him?

As you say the car cuts into a gap barely bigger then their car and immediately brakes firmly.
Now just maybe the vehicle that hit them could have avoided the collision if slightly quicker and harder on the brakes, but the dashcam footage is for me conclusive as to who shoulders majority/all blame.
I notice the driver gets out with a fag hanging from his mouth...that speaks volumes too.

Nearly rear ended today by a Ford Ranger rubber-necking at the lady from the Audi who with another driver was attending to an injured red deer on the opposite side of the road.

Fortunately oncoming traffic slowed rapidly at the same time I heard the screech of rubber behind enabling me to nip past. The Ranger ended up just behind the Audi - sharp intake of breath moment. eek

The Nissan Note and Mini drivers were not so lucky. No idea what happened but I've seen a few here where where the car [Mini? hidden behind the Note] coming down the hill turns right unsighted by a car in front also turning right and gets t-boned. [by the Note]

To complete a busy few days meet the friendly trucker lifting his hand in acknowledgement while speeding in a 20 with his phone glued to his ear.

The utter gibbon is now claiming that a water bottle got stuck under the pedals. Which one, and when, is a moot point

It's a crop from a dashcam snapshot so while I could clearly see the phone subsequent enlargement together with windscreen reflections makes poor evidence.

Don't usually post but I am seeing this all too often. The thing is, you could see over the hedge that a car was coming. This bloke was just gormless.

I would send it anyway, even if they just talk to the driver saying "it isn't clear enough to be definate but looks like you are using your phone" or simialr, I have done it a couple of times and had a decent responce from the company stating they will speak with the driver as they take a very dim view of phone usage

With that driving and car I would run away too. biglaugh

What an idiot. I hope he is hammered. Very lucky that nobody was badly hurt.

Too many drivers behave like idiots at car shows.

It does surprise me the sheer number of professional drivers that you see on their phones on a daily basis when their livelihoods depend on having a driving licence, Royal mail, bus and refuse truck drivers among them.

That would be worth submitting to your local Force, if you've got a reg.

I think this is the kind of driving that winds me up the most, completely oblivious and with no planning or thought. Similar this afternoon when a car was parked in a narrow section and pedestrians moving around it. On the other side but school run mum in her Touran just continued past with no space... couldn't see why I'd slowed to accommodate.

Or indeed this weekend in my campervan. Utterly suicidal overtake and i was already on the brakes as a blind crest was approaching. Sure enough, oncoming car. Well done Merc.

These fkwits don't realise how often they are saved by the forethought of others.

On an unrelated note, are Dorset drivers especially insane or is it just me?
