No, a drunk driver.
Ah, OK ta.
It would make more sense if he hung around pubs in the evening, but the lighting's not as good, I guess

How would that work?
'Please blow in this bag.'
'No'
'OK'
?

I see the problem. I guess he'd have to call the police on 999, quote the reg. and model of the car, direction of travel, description of the driver and why he had reasonable belief that they were intoxicated.

In all seriousness, he'd get pretty much universal support for calling in drunks.

From the police?
They seem happy enough he uploads videos they can easily act on at their leisure. Ringing 999 every night when everyone's busy maybe not so much?
I'm confident there'd be plenty here who wouldn't support him. But it's a moot point because it's not what he's chosen to do.

Then please, explain why it IS in the spirit of the law?
The law says leave your phone alone when driving. Simple and straight forward.

Indeed - a bit of nonsense brought up on a discussion forum.

Yep. I see him as a bit of an oddball, but completely harmless. Unless you want to mess with your phone in London, in which case there's an infinitesimal chance you'll hear him tapping on your window.

I am a bit conflicted. On the one hand I despise people that report other people for minor infractions. They have a very nasty streak to them. On the other, watching a range of outraged and entitled motorists from cabbies to surgeons is highly entertaining.

I think it would be entertaining to wind him up with a dummy phone, assuming it's not illegal to hold a fake one whilst the car is running.

It puzzles me why they need to be on the phone in the first place. They must all know if seen by plod will result in a fine, but hey ho, no problem I will just do it.

On my 54 mile commute home on Friday when driving in very slow moving traffic (talking 5mph ish) I counted 5 drivers all doing the same thing,,,looking down into their laps, I can only assume they were checking they hadn't wet themself rolleyes

This is an old clip from Poland, where the guy baits police with an edible cookie phone.

I presume that if you tried that in the UK, the police would try do you for a "due care" or "not in control" type offence instead.

It is amazing how much people can lose their minds behind the wheel. If you want a far worse example, watch the vid that follows that yikes Or maybe, don't...

I do wonder if the best way to make CM realise what a knob he is being is for someone to follow him around, filming every minor infraction he breaks. After doing so, collate them and send to the police. See how he likes being on the receiving end of someone being a tell tale tit.
not a bad idea, he will make a mistake at some point

I am quite suprised that no one in London has assaulted him yet - it seems to be a lot more peaceful there than the media makes out with all the roadmen/crime etc
