As for the 968, if you want one of those with a turbo it’s going to cost a lot more than £50k. I believe this one sold for $650k earlier this year:

I too am surprised there isn't more love for these. Porsche's aren't really my bag, but I do recall the 944 Turbo being highly regarded in its day as something of a giant killer. This one does seem quite pricey though.

I’m the same sm, especially when it’s usually accompanied by more in the way of sensations - noise, feel, etc. For me they feel even faster as a result

A couple of years ago they were everywhere, in race series, track days car meets. They where very popular because they where pretty cheap and had tons of speed potential. Nowdays with the rising prices it kind of killed that of, just like many other old cars. The prise boom is probably the worst thing ever to car culture..

One of the only cars I’ve sold that I really miss, the turbo 250 se later cars with the lsd and big brakes are a fantastic thing, and really come alive with a simple boost upgrade ( around 290/290).

The performance figures of these still hold up well today for me too. There is so much to love about these I reckon, and compared to a lot of more modern stuff these will be brill to drive surely.

Sold this arguably better looking 250bhp bridge spoiler version just under a year ago for £15.5k and it took a couple of months to shift even at that price. Mileage was a bit more, but still...

^^^ As many will probably point out it’s a lot of money for a 4 cylinder car, but then it’s in the current marketplace as a pretty rare Porsche these days!

Scan quality not great, but review by Georg Kacher of the Turbo S against the 924 CGT. Would have been interesting to have a 944 Silver Rose or the likes in the mix too

Yes, 4-pot doesn’t seem to put off the U.S. bidders - although even the Merc 190s have only got up to just over half that

That looks like a great example.
I think you were just unlucky as 2020 prices were pretty erratic.

I couldn't read the text, but the 968 turbo S was pretty well strangled to compete in it's race class. The road 944 turbo was also power limited, to a lesser extent.

I don’t think there are many reviews of the Turbo S out there, although they only made something like 16 of them so probably no surprise

If you want more easily upgradeable power from that era then go for a Sierra Cosworth.

Thanks. I think there were only 4 of the original RS version, though there have been 1 or 2 recreations using some of the original parts.
