RE: 2022 BMW iX xDrive50 | PH Review

The Only way BMW will stop producing ugly junk like this is if people don’t buy them. So please don’t.
Mike neglected to mention that there is no frunk - under that ugly bonnet there’s no space for the colossal amount of booze you’ll need to consume to stop you caring what an absolute oaf you’ll look driving around in this.

I really like it. Gets very good reviews and the interior looks fantastic. I’m not sure why everyone is going on about weight as it’s a large EV so it’s going to be heavy. Prices start from £80000 for the lower range version which is equivalent to my X5 4.5e.
Well, EVs may be heavier, but this is half a tonne heavier than say a Tesla Y, which has more space and equivalent performance/range for half the price. (unless you refer to the £80k base version of the bmw, which would be totally outclassed by a tesla in terms of performance and range, while remaining massively more expensive).Mysstree said:
Comes ready creased at the front so that when oncoming drivers cover their eyes at its ugliness no one will notice the difference due to the crash damage.
Why does it need a grill if its electric?
Exactly. Why does it need a grill? It reminds me of a cheap plastic toy car from poundland. The lack of an ICE to cool provides acres of design freedom and yet they create this? Truly awful. Why does it need a grill if its electric?

Whilst I am no fan of Tesla’s, they are a massive problem for the likes of BMW for the reasons mentioned. They’re also ugly, but a lot less ugly than this. It’s an awful looking car, but given BMW’s current styling / design choices is that really a surprise?

Oh in that case, great! £80k / double the UK average salary (thereabouts) for this horrendous lump! £110k no way, but £80k, where do I sign?Test drove a 40 version a couple of weeks ago. It looks much better in the metal, the weird wheel didn’t bother me at all but the boot really is too small- no idea how they have packaged it so badly. The refinement is extremely good, and I got the impression it would be a fabulous long distance motorway cruiser.
I didn’t like the very short throttle travel - much longer on the ipace - as if it is wanting to exaggerate how sporty it is. Seemed like it was a bit faux sporty, when I wanted something more laid back - did see one reviewer mention it is more warty in comfort. The steering is very rapid and it’s very manoeuvrable
The boot is the biggest problem to me - for the size of car it is embarrassingly small, with no froot (though there is a bit of space under the floor). Fine if you can have one seat folded down but it would struggle with four or five plus their luggage. I think it might suffer by comparison with the xc90 replacement and polestar 3 though their luggage space isn’t known at the moment
To get a decent boot I am probably going to get an xc90 recharge. Now that was a really laid back, relaxing thing to drive, and with a huge boot
