Interesting build, I like it, probably sounds nice. 360ps and 430nm not a huge improvement over the quickest Cayman 3.4 though so I wonder how much more you actually get out of that work.
Trundling along at around 30mph in 4th towards a junction as the lights change from Green to Amber, you floor it, a 3.4l Cayman will not do much but the v8 car should pick up very well. Once you've had a big v8 you understand how useful low rev grunt really is. Comparing the top trump numbers doesn't really explain the full picture. dom9 said:
I want to like that - I REALLY want to like that... but it's a hard no from me. Half the engine is literally sticking out the boot! There are Abarth vibes and then there is that! Handling has to be 'interesting'.
Not saying it won't be a laugh but... £30k?!
Agreed, rear heavy springs to mind. Not saying it won't be a laugh but... £30k?!

The ex David Render and Tony Castle-Miller Tornado Fiat 600 which was built by the Tornado car company in 1966.The company had manufactured a succession of fibreglass sports cars, the last being the Tornado Talisman.
The company was acquired by John Bekaert, a well-known racing driver in the 50’s and 60’s (he drove a Lister Jaguar at Goodwood in 1958, TC-M’s introduction to motorsport as a very young fellow).
Bekaert produced three cars, one of which was his ‘works’ example complete with a dry sumped 1850 cc Ford engine complete with Martin cross flow cylinder head and 12 valves. This car regularly saw off Ferraris, E types, Allards and other heavy metal, over a standing Kilometre at Blackbush and Brighton. Bekaert reached 130 mph with a 10/39 ring and pinion specially supplied by Abarth.
Originally fitted with a Ford Cortina 1500GT engine this example proved uncompetitive against Bekaert’s 600 and other similarly fast competition. It was promptly fitted with a tuned Lotus Cortina engine as a result of David Renders life long friendship with Colin Chapman.
The car went on to win over 80 events in Renders hands until being sold to TC-M in 1972. Success in Speed events continued and further development saw the car used in Special Saloon Car racing during the 70’s.
The car was rebuilt in 2007/8 to its original specification, using all the original Tornado parts, a replacement bodyshell of the correct year and a first series Lotus Cortina engine. It is believed to be the sole surviving Tornado Fiat 600 out if the three originally produced.
The car is today still sensationally fast and fabulous to drive – think early 911 Porsche for handling characteristics. It will easily exceed 115 mph with impressive acceleration.
just came acros this for sale on ebay, sounds very rare... I thought it was a build many years after the sale, but it reads this...
so it looks like a very unique car, with low miles and a later upgraded engine, also looks 'simpel' so you could surprise other cars :-)
they ask 15k which if MG can come up with a build sheet or so, could be worth way more if you advertise it well.
so if you have spare store room, not a bad investment and fun at the same time.

This is my very rare, Mk1 Metro that has been a RWD for its entire life – rather than a recent conversion.
The previous owner let me know that it was originally purchased brand new by an engineering firm that used it as a showcase for there services
It only has 13k on the clock
A few years back – the engine was upgraded to an RS turbo and has water methanol injection. It is seriously fast
Now I bought it with the intention of converting it to a 6R4 replica as they are fetching some top end money and the bulk of the works and headaches has already been done.
Due to its power, it will require your full attention to drive – not really suitable for a novice driver. I have improved handling by having CRS Suspension in Staffordshire install uprated suspension and setting it up. It’s loud (sounds awesome) and upsets a lot of modern “fast” cars at the traffic light grand prix as its roughly 250BHP
It definitely doesn’t “need” 6R4ing. Its spot on as it is and looks the business – just the 6R4 kit would look incredible and add a comfortable...

£25k for a 16 year old Cayman that has done 150k? It's not as if it's an expensive engine that has been fitted.

Its a lot of work and hours to get all aligned and I guess many small parts maybe maid to fit, if you can do all yourself then its cheaper, but say some garage made such for you, it could cost more all in.It's not as if it's an expensive engine that has been fitted.
