We tend to think that the modern Hyundai's are good, but the Stellar was quite a thing really.
Funny you say that... there is a V8 converted one floating about on the internet somewhere (and on the road, too, I assume ). Bear-n said:

Also, tell me if I'm wrong here, but at this sort of age on a relatively well built car like a V70, are low miles really all important to get excited for? Seems like a impeccable maintenance history (which judging by the MOT history, this car lacks) should trump low miles surely?
Oh, and while I'm posting; Any vel statis beards in the house? I may have the opportunity to acquire one and was looking for some advice?

Barn find?
A whole barn is way too upmarket for me; Shed find is more apt Let's just say I've come across a 3.5 petrol, needs an alternator and some (nay, a lot) of TLC but I may have accidently fallen in love .
I had two Renault 25s and a Safrane back in the period 1985 to 1995.
I was keen to have a 25 as a company car because
a) I liked the styling
b) it was an uncommon car,
c) not everything executive was german in those days and
d) I had had a Renault 20 and 30 as loan cars and loved the comfort of the armchair ride.
I still reckon the 25 was the most comfortable seat I ever drove, and I did 250,000 miles in one.
The Lexus LS 400 I had after the Safrane was not a patch on it for comfort, the only cars that came close for me were the Velcro 850 T5 and the Saab 9000 and 9-5.
I would have a Vel Satis like a shot if it wasn't for its thirstiness and the road fund tax.

They're just not that good for some of these prices IMO. I love a V70 and I'd have one - but that's for being handsome, classless brutes for about £2k.https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=33...
I don't care about the engine or gearbox, unless it's an R.
This beautiful thing will do everything you want with effortlessly masculine style and panache, for £2500, whilst a precious low mileage T5 manual watches from a distance whimpering something about its older second half-brother being in BTCC.

Its this on wheels.
At over 200k miles it might be a bit much for the thread, though is within the budget. But nice looking cabin and LWB.

Whilst my ownership hasn't been painless, if someone's handy with the spanners this could be fun.
