As I noted previously in my experience it use to be 7pp too but has been 9 or 10 when I’ve occasionally looked. Due to the winter lay off I’ve not bought any for a few months.

So that’s at least three of us that have noticed the change, clearly a theme!
Still 7ppl difference at all the Tesco within 10 miles of me (for now?).

Drove through Hawes today the little pump service petrol station was 138p for petrol and 156p for diesel I was surprised and shows how the big retailers are taking the mickey [My local BP is 10p per litre more)

The garage in Hawes is community owned & very proud of being competitive on price vs the supermarkets - we stayed near by in September & I filled up there given the price thumbup

Seems about normal here in the USA - I filled up for about $3 / gallon, or about 0.65 / Liter.

Wildly different pricing between stations though, not counting expensive highway ones - I've seen $3.45 today too (74p / L)

It's not just Tesco on the 10p price difference, Sainsburys are at it too.

Well I've just filled up at Roberts in grindley brook and for the first time in god knows how long petrol and diesel were the same price of £1.41 per litre.

It has been bouncing back and forth between 139.7 and 140.9 for unleaded at my local for what seems like months now. Is that the new floor for pricing, do we think?

At this point I would genuinely be surprised to see it go any lower, although these things are always at the mercy of events, I guess.

I've said it once and I'll say it again.
Petrol prices will never go back to what they were before (£1.35pl Diesel). Government knows that people will just be happy once it goes below £1.50pl and we'll accept it as normal. Only way it'll change is if people refuse to pay it which they won't. If everyone didn't go to work because they refused to pay the prices then the Government would do something about it. Until then we'll get shafted and prices will just go up again.

In fairness if I add 2 years of inflation at 10% to your £1.35 I get to today's price so there may soon be a point where if fuel prices start climbing again, then prices have gone back to "before", if inflation corrected.

Topped up today with Diesel at Sainsbury's for 152.9p, which seems to be price matching the Jet garage next door. When I saw the price on the Petrol Prices App I thought it was a typo as everywhere else in the area it's still around 160p.

I've noticed their price gap between petrol and diesel is always low. How come this is the case when other stations have around 20p difference between them? Are we just being ripped off for diesel?

I've been paying £1.37 for the last few months now, and the local Asda was £1.36 a few days ago.

In the area of Surrey / Hants / Berks borders near me regular unleaded seems to vary between £1.36 - £1.43, Super between £1.48 - £1.55 with diesel being about 8 - 10p more than whatever Super is priced at.

Other than fuel duty and VAT, how are you assuming the Government has any control on fuel prices?

You seriously think that all the key decision makers are totally independent from the fuel suppliers? No share holding? Not sitting on any boards?

Where's my tin foil hat?

Competition drives it down. Supermarkets even make less profit that the franchised places to encourage footfall, when they have any. My local S'burys regularly runs out of super U/L. frown
