I doubt this is good news for competition, Morrisons selling all its petrol stations to its own parent company.

Around here, diesel has started creeping up a couple pence over the last week or so. Filled up today at 142.9p / litre at Sainsbury's Irvine.

Mine at Costco Leicester today:

Unleaded Petrol 132.9
Premium Unleaded Petrol 137.9
Premium Diesel 140.9

For those who use/live near Costco warehouses with Fuel stations, they now update their Fuel prices daily on the website:

Not sure if it is similar elsewhere but indy garages where I live are still cheaper than the supermarkets.

Definitely not, supermarkets have been cheaper than Indies where I live for at least 20 years.

There was a brief period when the prices peaked that indies were cheaper than supermarkets around here, but now "normal service" has resumed and supermarkets are the cheapest, although the diffential to the indies is not as high as it once was.

Topped up with diesel today at Sainsbury's Prestwick and it was 145.9p, which is up another couple of pence since last week.

Petrol was actually cheaper relatively speaking in the 1980s. Often said that after adjusting for inflation the prices in the past were higher but saw an old episode of Top Gear the other day on the introduction of Unleaded and they were filling up for 40p a litre. Inflation adjusted is just over £1 a litre.

Thanks to the Houthi attacks... wholesale diesel prices in Europe are sharply higher.

I found an RPI adjusted list which reckons adjusted for inflation 1992 was the cheapest year in the last 40. 2023 was the cheapest year in real terms since 1999 according to that source. 2011-2013 were the most expensive.

I miss the days when the Chancellor would announce in his yearly budget that there would be a 1p or 2p per gallon increase in fuel duty.

Costco Reading, a small divert from my occasional M4 commute:-
134.9 Premium Unleaded Petrol
138.9 Premium Diesel
£30 a year though to join the club. Not bought anything in store as no need for 500 loo rolls or the other ‘bargains’ when I went in!
But a few fillups pays for the fee ..

You say nothing but travel has some good cruise deals with vouchers back, cheap iPhones and 5 year warranty on tvs etc

Doesn’t take much to get value from that £30

Both petrol and diesel seems to be creeping up. Every day this week I've drove past my local Sainsbury's and it's been a penny higher each time.
