We've had one coming up for a year now and its just going in for 1st service. Bought as a town run about, its hands down the best we've had; the only pain is lack of rear doors - but still plenty of space for teenagers. Only complaints are fuel consumption and the tiny 50l tank. You will be mates with the petrol station clerks. And I really like the new dash layout. Will dig out pics.
I think the rear seat space is quite limited. I tried one, with the driver’s seat in my position any rear seat passenger would require no legs to fit.

Like the prior poster my daughter is 5fr2, unlike he; I'm very average height. There's at least as much room as our old Golf R, but it is only used for short journeys in town (with passengers). There is plenty of space for that, although I would guess for taller passengers the rear would be cramped. I go further alone, and prefer it to our Taycan.

clap sounds great

Exactly what I’d go for too

Do think I need to go and sit in one of these as would need use of back seats for kids (even if not every day, as we’d have my wife’s car too) but would certainly sway things in terms of increased practicality.

Feel most of these 2+2 are usually pretty compromised in the rear, understandably so, but as all cars are so much bigger these days I’d certainly appreciate a smidge more rear leg room.

Helps with the ‘selling in’ of the idea wink

i'm 6'2" and spent twenty minutes behind a near 6' salesman whilst swmbo drove
the room was surprisingly fine
the view forwards was not great due to the tombstone front seats/head restraints
the view sideways was ok
access, in terms of the front seat sliding forwards, was not great
hth !

Ah thank you. That’s super helpful to know.

My kids are considerably shorter than you! hehe so they should be OK then. Appreciate the comment regarding forward visibility, imagine spec’d with a sunroof would possibly help a little in terms of not feeling like in a black hole of sorts.

Could I ask what are the seats like in terms of access to rear and then remaining in the same position when returning the seat back upright?

I know it’s only a minor thing but sometimes the little quality of life details are appreciated.

For instance, I’m particularly against rear seats being 60/40 and very much into the 40/20/40 split for the flexibility/practicality it affords…especially (mainly!) as I snowboard smile although appreciate it costs more for that split, it must be reasonably nominal in the grand scheme of things and something I’d happily pay for anyway. New Honda Civic Type R is a particular bugbear, especially considering it’s only two seats in the back. Anyway, I digress!

The seats do electrically return back to the original position when returning the back upright.

I spec'd the sunroof in mine which does make a big difference and recommend, i do miss that in the M2 which isn't an avaliable option.

The rear seats are 60/40 split.

Thanks again, that’s great to know they do return to their original position.

Yeah I’m with you on the sunroof. I know it likely offends many M purists and I genuinely love the carbon and totally understand weight benefit reasoning etc too but at least having the option of a sunroof is great for sure.

That’s interesting to know regarding the seat split as ones I’ve seen for sale have (from memory!) generally been 40/20/40 I believe so must be an option and one I’d look out for (if buying, as this is one of many ‘on the list’ wobble

Worth noting (maybe) but the seats positions are coded to the key. Although if you pick up the wrong one, there is a button on the door which will reposition the drivers seat ro preference. You also get a credit card key, but never used it.

It's basically a 4 series interior which in a small car is a nice thing. If you can live with the space it's a bit of a bargain compared to other options. I think the only options I didn't spec was the toehook and sunroof. With the lighter seats, I don't think it needs it, but realise many like them.

Subjective and bias, but I find the seats super comfortable- but each to their own.

Performance wise, it goes like stink. X drive means pretty much instant hook up, the rear drive m2 might be a purer sports car, but for UK use, this is (IMHO) a great choice.

They've held their value really well. Can't see one for less than around £38k.

Possibly due to limited supply? As some have commented the space might put some off, which means there doesn't appear to be many around. I've only seen one other M240 driving in London. See a few more 220s. Lead times maybea thing? Mine was 7 months from order to delivery. Although suspect much shorter today. Weird shipping, it went from Mexico to Baltimore then Munich before UK delivery.

Lack of ubiquity is probably no bad thing. I see why some people find them a challenging look, from some angles it does look weird. But by and large I think the styling is good and a decent nod to BMs of old. I suspect the M2 CS will the absolute business when it arrives. Probably last M car without electric assistance. Not going to be cheap though.

I agree... as I've mentioned imo the New M240 is in many ways very simler to the F87 M2 but with the benefit of XDrive. Having run both as dailys for many miles now, whereas i can't see me using the New more powerful M2 as a daily especially as i ordered the Manual gear box for a bit of extra fun which it is but not for every day use...driving
