Not sure why people are getting up in arms about having to order the car sight unseen. There’ll be demonstrators in June, a month before deliveries start, and if you don’t like it then you can take your deposit back and walk.
Are you 100% sure you can get your deposit back if you don’t like the car after the drive?

Well, the holding deposit is refundable and the actual deposit isn’t due until a few days before the car is handed over. So I’d have thought so, unless I’m misunderstanding something.

My dealer wasn't keen on this idea, but did eventually agree to it. Can't see me rejecting the car though!

That exhaust clip sound great, what's on it?

I’m assuming you’re planning to order online with Toyota?
If it’s with a dealer, I would 100% get it in writing they have agreed to return your deposit if you change your mind.

This is a summary of the mods minus more recent stuff like bronze wheels and an Alcantara King steering wheel and a
Focal speaker system upgrade and few other bits. Its a great little machine for what I use it for.

I never asked if the deposit I left was refundable (will ask on Monday when I go in) but I paid on credit card so I probably have more help in getting it refunded if I wanted to (not as advertised, didn't deliver, chargeback etc)

Catback exhaust, springs and wheels off the bat for me. Well, after the run in period at least. Spent the last few days looking at which exhaust sounds best on the GT.
What conclusion did you get to over suspension?
I'll 100% be fitting a decent set of coilovers to mine. I'm hoping someone like Litchfield or String Theory will develop something that works well for UK roads. Like Litcho did with Bilsteins for the M2.

Thanks. It will be interesting to see what the usual companies come up with for the GR86, if there needs to be much difference to the GT86 / BRZ.

I'm hoping I don't need to upgrade mine too much, but from the reviews they can sound a bit dull, so it's good to have options.

I have a Focal system in my Outback, great speakers. I'll keep an eye out for upgrades on that front too as nearly all oem speakers are garbage.

I've just got back from Leeds Toyota, went down to put a deposit down subject to similar questions.

Deposit-wise, they expressly stated that it was non-refundable. I said, well what if the delivery date is July, then backs out to November then supply issues and it becomes Spring 2023? They said in that case they would 'work something out'. I can guarantee that the contract wouldn't say that & I'd be tied to the mast until it turned up or lose my £500.

Guess it's a risk-based judgment call but I think I might wait.

Anybody dealt with a dealer (ideally oop north) that has agreed (in writing) to deposit return conditions?

Again, I’d get it in writing (on an email realistically)

When you order a Toyota now, you are ordering a specific car, not as a holding deposit. If a customer is in any doubt I’ll make sure they have a drive when the Demo arrives, then place the order.

I've a Macan on order too. For a Macan its £3000 deposit at the point of order! Porsche dealer said until the car is committed to build I could have the deposit back if for whatever reason I need to back out. The logic is ... if we're difficult over this you'll never buy from us again.

The £500 "depoist" many people here have given over phone for a GR86 will be refundable no questions, up until an order is is placed on Monday and 'til they have signed an order form (with pen, esign or blood). Whether you can get £500 back after that will be down to the small print and the dealer, who may elect to refund if they know they can resell your build ... which shouldn't be a problem.

Yeah, I’ll hold my hands up here and admit I’ve gotten the wrong end of the stick. Holding is refundable but only until an order is placed!

Thankfully I have no intention of changing my mind, unless the car turns out to be a giant pile of cack, which I doubt.

Not come to any conclusion as yet, but I’ll definitely be getting lowering springs in the short term with intentions of getting coilovers next year sometime.

That's useful to know, thanks. You also mentioned ordering with Toyota, does that mean there will be central ordering online next week or is it best to still liaise with a local dealer? (Mine seems a bit useless!)

If it’s a Macan GTS then you’d have it gone tomorrow at 10k above list!
I’ve just placed my £500 deposit, it’s going to be great fun and a good base for modifying. Plus I’ve not been as enamoured with the looks of a car in a long time. The arches and side skirts give it so much more presence than the old car whilst not overdoing it. I think it needs the ducktail though, sets it off nicely!

You will be able to order online, I guess it’s personal preference…however you still have to choose a nominated dealer, so you might still have to deal with your local useless dealer at some point!

Ok thanks, at least if I ordered online I'd know that bit was done! biggrin

I remember travelling to the RAC/Network Q Welsh rally in the back of a Mk1 TT years ago. I'm only 5'8" but it was still hell! I couldn't even sit up straight.

My old S14a 200SX wasn't a complete disaster in comparison though in the rear seats.
